What is under the black plastic liner in the trunk?
Thinking of removing it and putting an amp there. Would it be worth it? How much extra clearance does it give? I guess I could just remove the dozen or so nuts, but it's cold in my garage.

That's where the illegal aliens hide while crossing the border
Actually, you should have room behind the DS trunk liner panel to mount an amp - either in place of the factory amp, or above it (depending on size of amp). That is of course as long as you don't have the 6 CD Changer option... I'm mounting my new JL Audio XD600/6 amp directly in place of the factory amp in that location.
