Cleaning my Exhaust Tips

I tried cleaning my exhaust tips for the first time ever using fine steel wool, mother's mag and aluminum polish, fine grit sandpaper for the inner tips and a little elbow grease. I think the results are great, anyone can do this in 30-45 mins. Give it a try!

There's a product called Carbon Off that would probably work for exhaust tips.

Seems as if you sanded off the matte silver finish from the bottom and the lip of the tip.

What steel wool grade did you use? I hope it was Steel wool 0000.

I think the matte silver finish on the bottom of the tips was already worn off from years of never being cleaned. I did use 0000 Grade wool and was careful about how much I was rubbing. I think they turned out okay, a lot better than they were before. It should keep me satisfied until I swap the muffler for something a little sportier

You can also use a clay bar with soap if your tips are not super oxidized and pitted.

Don't forget these exhaust tips are slipped on. Easiest way to clean them is to yank em off and work on them on your bench

Looks better than b4......but paint that bad boy and make it sparkling.....not hard and you'll have paint leftovers for resprays should the look fade.

If you want a mirror finish, get a Dremel, a few paper wheels, and decent polish. Takes about 10 minutes and you'll be able too see your face when done.
