NoVA DP install?

I'm driving to Woodbridge for thanksgiving and looking for someone to install downpipes on my n54 xi. Looking for a good price and maybe install an intercooler and exhaust also. I'll be here for the whole week, so let me know who you guys recommend.

two choices for local independent work.

look up user name CLEM he (Adam) is the DP install king! He's in Ellicott City, Maryland

or

Luther at Flemmings Auto in Beltsville, Maryland

both do great DP installs for rates cheaper than most indy shops and both are on your way

Thanks. Trying to get an appointment so I'm not SOL when I get home. I'm going to look around a bit longer so I'm not stunk in Maryland for a few hours while I get it installed.

CLEM has a nice garage with many artifacts, toys and a nice flat screen to watch. Luther has a flat screen with Playstation and some Zombie games.

it is an Xi, but I don't see it taking more than an hour and a half. He did my DPs in 20 minutes.

+1 for adam. My dp's were essentially welded on and he still got the job done in less than 2 hours. Also, you should take him some cupcakes. His family loves cupcakes.

Adam is the man, there is nothing on my car I wouldn't trust him to do. Luther does really good work as well, i'd highly rec either of 'em.

If you bring it to him hot he is going to want to let it cool off for at least an hour of so and I believe he told me it would take about 2 hours to do on the xi. It took me 4 but i had never done them before so wasnt totally sure what all needed to be taken out/off.

I'm in Dayton, MD if you're willing to make the trip.

Almost everyone hangs out here without complaint while I work.

Your car will not need cool down time this time of year.

I do like cupcakes but can live without them.

Zombie games? Damn, time to dig out the old Playstation.

X drive cars generally take between 2-3 hours.

1.5 - 2 hours depending on whether the turbo v-band clamp bolts are uncooperative.

Not to thread jack, but what DPs does everyone recommend? Also, will catless DPs pass Virginia inspection?

AR, CPe, BMS, VRSF, etc....any good name brand N54 DP works well. Stay away from Ebay DP. C@tless DPs will not pass emissions unless you have the BMS DP Fix module. Aftermarket Catted DPs will not necessary pass emissions either. Go c@tless and get the DP fix, it works.

You smog in northern Virginia? Unless they go thru the trouble of a visual (and take belly pans off) or you don't have software that prevents a CEL it should pass. We don't get smogged or OBD readiness testing, the whole inspection is visual.

NoVa requires readiness but no visual....the DP fix sets readiness.

I plan to go FBO eventually... catless DP, charge pipe, BOV, FMIC, etc. Is it best to go with the same company for all those parts (ex. BMS) or is it better to buy one part from one company, another part from another, etc? Also, as said Newport News doesn't do emissions, so I wouldn't have to worry about that. Though I'm planning on moving to northern Virginia soon. However, if need be, I'll drive back to Newport News area once a year to renew my inspection and avoid emissions. What is the DP fix you speak of? And why are you using the @ symbol for c@tless?

BMS sells two products which have the ability to keep your car from throwing codes when you have catless or race downpipes installed. One is a subfunction of the JB4 tune, the other is called a "downpipe fix." When you go for emissions where they plug into your OBDII your monitors will say they are "ready" and you're good to go even though you are driving a smog machine.

not sure about bigdaddy but I have loads more fun typing c@tless, plus it looks H4rdc0r3 1337
