Car's got "egg'd!"

Last Saturday night, I heard some noise out front, I saw our 2012 ML350 getting hit by eggs. I slapped on my shoes, went outside and looked to see that our 2007 M Coupe and 2011 335is were also hit. I knew the little knuckleheads were within striking distance of me, but I also thought about how long the egg white could remain on paint without causing severe damage. I decided not to pursue the punks and the possibility of me catching them, calling the cops and then trying to get the egg off... Instead, I walked inside, told my daughter to call the cops, walked out back to grab the hose and proceeded to wash the cars off. ML350 was white, no damage. M Coupe had a half moon eggshell mark on rear quarter panel. My 335is had two marks on the hood, but that was it. I bought two covers with cable locks for the Beamerz... I think these were girls because of lack of velocity, also, this was at 11 pm in a very high lit area.. Anyway, car covers come in handy when people are jealous of our cars. Be careful everyone.

ahh man that sucks! I don't think the egg yoke would hurt your car as long as you washed it off Asap. You should get security cameras to monitor your drive way to keep those punks out

damn sorry to hear, but being base coat clear coat is far more forgiving, you can buff scratches out you can sand things out ECT its durable and egg sux but it could be easily removable.

Just out of curiosity why weren't your cars in the garage at night time? I don't mean to be rude

One car garage...

We have a one car garage and my Harley is parked in there. The unfortunate thing is we are on a corner, so we are easy targets. Valid questions... : )

Makes you wonder about people. I was hit with a yellow paintball when entering the freeway. It took a bit to clean off... I feel your irritation.

SoB...only harm eggs can do is when they hit with a force. other than that no harm to paint. I've experienced eggs on my car but that was a rogue part of a festivel in India (lol).

As ppl pointed out above, you must install cameras now because whosoever did this might strike again.

Anyone can do that, especially when ONE of your cars payments is higher than your mortgage...
I think a couple of other posters made this clear...

Cameras are a must at this point. GoPro with remote (HD) comes to mind. Covers with locks I already have for both BMW's. As for DaveL, maybe he threw the eggs... : )

You sir, are horrible at drawing conclusions. People can throw eggs in any neighborhood. Some places don't have garages. Maybe he lives in a condo? Let's not see any more assumptions out of you.

I look at it this way- karma's a bitch. When those little snot noses get their own cars, and they get smacked by a tractor-trailer from behind, totaling their ride, they can think back to that day that they did this to the OP
Take heart fella- every dog has its day

I would have gone after the kids and made them pay for any damages that could have been caused. But that might just be my hotheadedness.

I'm 19 myself and see stuff like this happen quite a bit. Even in the nicest of neighborhoods. When my car is at my house, I have to keep it outside... garage is for my parents' cars. Thankfully this has never happened to me. But I have heard of my house being egged before I was born. Such incompetence, immaturity, and jealousy.

Good luck with your car OP. Hope it's all sorted out.

Solution

Bought a GoPro HD Hero2. Set camera at 11MP @ 5s intervals. Anyone standing along fence line will be shot (with my new toy)... Thanks for the input people.
