with respect to the parrots amp, I dont use it for music. I have bmw HiFi with the amp in the boot so it wasn't right to use the parrots amp at the same time. So, as I have no centre speaker in the centre top dash, I bough a cheap £10 speaker, installed it were the Logic 7 centre speaker would be and connected the parrots amp ONLY to this, so all my calls only come through that speaker only- it works great-/and thus no problems with interfering with existing HiFi and parking sensors etc. Music still comes through all speakers though as the parrots aux out is connected to the aux in in the glovebox..I just select aux on the head unit and the music's there - to be honest i have mainly used a usb stick plugged into the parrots usb cable which i brought into the armrest- I'm not sure how good the Bluetooth method actually is in terms of sound quality.. Something I need to evaluate further.. Not saying its bad I haven't used it enough to make a judgement that's all.

No track display on the standard pre-lci 'professional' head unit though when using aux which is probably the only downside. And probably why a mki9100 with screen is a better choice. If you look on the forum, someone put their parrot install thread there which I used to install mine.

I installed the parrots mic on top of the rear view mirror - almost invisible and no problems with clarity reported.

I've got a 2010 CiC iDrive with AUX & USB/Audio, and Controls for Combox, Pro Sat Nav. I want to stream music and be able to control it through the steering wheel and see on screen Albums covers etc.

I can't stream music via the USB and for some reason I don't have Bluetooth? even though i've got a high spec'd car (seems stupid).

Anyone help a boy out?

you need to add bluetooth antenna and mic and code bluetooth option
you may provide 7 digits of the VIN or decode options list to see what is possible

Plus you won’t get album art via Bluetooth, only by using the armrest usb if you have combox

I had an old 160gb iPod permanently plugged into mine. Just used iTunes to drag 5000 or so mp3’s into it, no messing around with buying tunes online etc

great, you need bluetooth antenna with wire for bluetooth streaming and mic with wire if you want bluetooth handsfree feature and also you need to code these options
any authorized dealer or indep. bmw electric will do that upgrade for you
or i can ship you parts needed and you can buy carly android app and their obd adapter and code that yourself

As above this would be a good idea if I didn't have iDrive!

I have a 2009 with professional nav CIC, pro radio with Bluetooth for phone calls but not music. I have the aux 3.5mm jack and a 12v power socket in the arm rest. To get bluetooth music I bought one of these:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Bluetooth-S...tooth+receiver

Plug it in the 3.5mm jack and power from the 12V socket, and it gives you reliable music streaming over Bluetooth of good quality, all hidden away for less that a tenner.

Works for me and takes 30 seconds to install.

Whats the sound quality like? I have harmon kardin hifi system and used a bluetooth receiver, sounded absolutely awful.

I'm going down the factory retrofit route now for around £100.

Sound is perfect on mine, no noise or distortion at all.
