Italy won't choke in the quarter finals. Actually the team will play better as the tournament progresses. Italy had a bad game and yet they had more chances to score than the Aussies.

Germany has been playing well because they homefield advantage otherwise they don`t have the players to win the world cup.

By the way I hope Germany beats Argentina.

One more thing your name "Bimmerista" sounds a bit Italian.

WOW!!!

i thought Argentina-Mexico was the most unfair match, but this 1 is above all expectations!!!!

how many attacks did brazil have??? u can count them on the fingers of one hand...

how many attacks ghana had?? a little bit more, but they had more ball possesion...

2nd goal was surely an offside...

whats more 2 cum???

brazil had the worst match ever, they r gonna b kicked out by spain if they continue like that (but if france qualifies, its a different story)

2 all brazilians who said Italy didnt deserve that win over australia, what r u gonna say about this match????

Let me get this straight, they (Brazil) win 3-0 but it is the Worst match ever? What exactly do you want Brazil to do? Italy scores ONE GOAL on a rather "suspicious" foul/PK and Brazil put in 3 (One I agree looked offsides) and you wanna compare both?
Maybe you and the rest of the world saw two different matches.

WAY too big a reward in a game where goals are so few.

I understand what your saying. However, a foul in the box is a big deal. The possibilty of a goal is high, so having it disrupted because of a tackle, push, slide, whatever..calls for a punishment. The announcers said over and over that the Australian player should NOT have went down. The italian player tripped over him, and what the ref saw was the Aussie player going for his legs. If the Aussie player would have stayed up and tried to get the ball away, i dont think the PK would have been called

Is the possibility of a goal darn near 100% when they are in the box? Because that is about the conversion rate for PK's...

Personally, I'd feel a little foolish running around and celebrating as if I scored a Pele like goal when all I had done was beat a 6' by 3' dude who was trying to protect a 8' by 24' goal from 10' away...lots of skill required there, huh?

Make some little bit of talent required and back the guy up a bit...or allow a couple defensemen to help protect the goal.

Actually the chance of scoring on a PK is no where near 100%. Did you happen to watch Ukraine vs Swiss? The first 3 Swiss players missed, and the first Ukraine player missed. Or what about in 1994 when Roberto Baggio missed his winning PK in the finals agaisnt Brazil? (i sure as hell remember hah).

Pk's look alot easier than what they really are. I know first hand, i've missed a few PK's when i used to play soccer. And when you miss, the feeling is indescribable.

Its easy to say that there was no PK when you watch the replay, but at the speed the game was going it looked like a PK. Furthermore, the referee had to redeem himself after giving Materazzi a red card. If the ref had not given out a red card he would have probably not given the PK.

Well most of it is nerves and over thinking the shot. The goalie has a good chance of guessing if you over analyze. Lots of people were nervous Totti was gonan try to chip the ball, if he did that, most likely the goalie would have saved it.

Anyway, PK's are bittersweet.
