will this be durable and stand up well to scratches? I guess it's nice protection from all those little scruff marks on parking lot.
i really like how you masked the triangles near the side mirrors. Looks badass. BTW, get that roof in black vinyl - you dont want it to fade over time while rest of paint will be ok. It looks good though! PS. Do you have to change anything on the documents of the car to show it had color change? Because it kinda of didnt, but also kinda of did.

Yeah the tape is really thick. It is very resisstant even for stone chipping. They even give warranty for 5 years. The tape is about 100 µ thick.
You can car wash in automatic system no problem at for the tape. The German official Army is using this sort of tape to foil the car. You don't need to change the vehicles paper as in Germany this is not required by law. I was thinking of making the roof in carbon but than it does not look smooth with the sun roof. Therefore I am going to keep everything as it is for now. Thy told me after 3 years there would be not a significant color change as the top roof color does not flow into adjacent area. Hardly to notice. |

How so? Curious since I've never seen a fully vinyled car in person. It'll most likely start fading/yellowing in a few years if I were to guess...

I have done this at an expert shop in Munich specialising it for all sort of customer. They come mainly from the racing sport branch.
I will make some pictures by myself as soon I am back to Germany. Currently the technician has sent me the pictures over to my e-mail accout. I just love surfing the net at 38.000 feet and using all the fun... If you want to see a movie on how this is done, pleas watch this link of a crazy hot German lady doing the same but only in Green with her Porsche.. http://www.intax.de/popup_video/inde..._porsche911_bw |

Yeah I was thinking of turning the car to a wild pussy wagon. However I still have to use the car for work... and I can't show up in a vehicle like AMG or like in black matt. Its all about to come in style.. grrrr.

That's pretty cool. Wonder about washes, definitively no automated car washes allowed? How is the original paint going to hold up, without waxing?

I don't think this would be good for your paint over the years, esp if you live in hot climates. It might be ok where you live, but I would wonder how your paint would hold up under the CA or AZ heat in the summers under that super thick vinyl.

2. vinyl swirls. so does paint, but at least swirls can be polished out of paint. 3. it is impossible to lay this stuff down as glassy smooth as paint. if someone were to look close enough, there would be wrinkles/bubbles/imperfections in the surface. id rather have orange peel. i also imagine edges/corners would look "off". i appreciate the novelty of the idea, but its not for me, personally. |
