Most people that bought stuff when Steve was running trendix had no problems (atleast i never heard of any), it was when so called Carlos took over that the scamming began.

I've been looking for a black grill vendor since ordering my car back in October with no luck... I think I'm just going to do the painting myself. It's not a terribly expensive set to replace if I screw it up... but should be easy enough.

Though, I have to admit... I can't believe the market isn't flooded with these yet... it's going on a year now... geez.

Come on you wonderful Aftermarket Vendors... we want your take on grills and shadowline trim. Help us out, you wont have a shortage of buyers, I promise.

As mentioned, I lucked out and dealt with Steve so I got the grilles. Unfortunately the painting job on them is of very poor quality, so I have since sanded and repainted them. The actual job of sanding and repainting is *very* easy.

I finally got the mesh out (had to take off the bumper cover) and painted it matte black too. Total pain in the ass.

Is there a DIY for that? It looks like a pain in the ass just from my quick analysis.

It's a complete pain in the ass; you have to take off the bumper cover, which is held on by 30 screws (literally, 30).

Picus, this DIY instruction is way better than the one you referred to in your thread. I did the "pull and push" method outlined by the original DIY, yes it worked, BUT in the process I almost ripped the part of the bumper that holds the grilles. Your method is much more gentler and ensures the bumper won't be damaged.

I actually painted it last night using a detailers brush, trim paint, and a good bit of masking tape... it came out pretty good. I will shoot a picture later today if I get a few minutes. Overall it was about 45 minutes for the entire job.

dude it is really easy...remove the 4 hex screws on the top. Get your hand back there and feel for the clips. On the top of the clip is a release tab. push it down and pull the grill out. Then go onto the next one in around in a circle. You might have to go back to the first one by the time you get to the end..Don't be afraid to pull that bumper out to get your hand in there...I would gladly help you out but I am in NYC and the ten bucks ain't worth the flight lol.

Its really easy though..just take your time with it.

WOW!!! That takes real balls, seriously, assuming you mean you actually sprayed the mesh while it was on the car! Were you able to get a piece of paper between the mesh and th intercooler and oil cooler (assuming you have one) to protect them from the black paint?

those hex nut 5/32 is to be unscrewed with the same torx 20 screwdriver that is needed for e90 right? Just to make sure.

I think so. The torx in the tool kit works.
