s65 swap in to a 2010 e90 328i

Hi guys,

just wondering what i would need for this swap. i have come across a very good deal on a s65 motor plus tranny. and have someone that can out it in for cheap, but now i am wondering what else i would need like i know i would need a new hood, exhaust. but the biggest thing is to how the ecu is going to work out. is there anybody out there that have dome this swap?

You need the driveshaft diff and half shafts too. You'll also need new rear knuckles and wheels bearings so the half shafts will fit. You need the M3's ECU and it needs to be programmed to match your VIN and options list. You also might need a new guage cluster as well.

The tranny tunnels for the two cars are all different I think so fitment might be an issue. You also need to change the rear underbody to get the quad exhaust to fit.

It's gonna be a tough endeavor. Might even be cheaper just to get an M3. You might wanna look for a different engine, like one that's not already in use in the e90.

Why not find a good deal on an S85?

You need someone who is comfortable more or less building a car from scratch who can do custom fabrication for everything....EVERYTHING.

Then you'll need a harness adapter for something like a Motec which will run you around $3K+ for the custom 1 off harness alone, then who the hell knows how much the actual Motec system is these days.

You are looking at like $10k PLUS the motor and tranny minimum unless you are just the man and can do EVERYTHING yourself.

yes but he will have a 65OHP V12. IN A 3600 LBS 3 SERIES IT WOULD BE INSANE AND LOOK OUT GTR ENZO CARRERA GT AND SLRS MAYBE WITH AN ECU AND OTHER THINGS AND A TUNE LOOK OUT VEYRON I'M CRAZY ABOUT IT.... sorry for caps lol

What are you talking about?

S65 is V8 - 420 295 lb ft
S85 is V100- 507HP 384 lb ft

Where do you see a 650HP V12 anywhere in this thread?

i am still waiting for a reply from the guy that is doing the swap. he is doing some research on the 328i and everything that i would need for the swap. he has done a s65 swap in to a 335 before. so i hope he knows what he is doing.

If we're talking about a amg motor the S63 is a v8 507 and a S65 is a v12 biturbo
