Does an Aftermarket Intake void the Warranty?

I'm only at about 40k, so I've got the remaining 10k of the standard factory w/ maintenance, plus I have the 100k BMW Certified warranty. I just installed the Fujita F5 Air short ram intake. What affect will that have on my warranty? Do I need to take it off when I take the vehicle in (aka - will the people in service make a note that an aftermarket intake system was installed and have it on file if something fails down the road)?

Your expertise is appreciated. Thank you!

If they see it, you run the risk of being bashed by BMW. But, thats only if they prove the issue is caused by the intake.

I personally have a modified fujita intake, but when I take it to the dealer I always put my stock back in to eliminate the hassle.

Better safe then sorry, spend 10 mins to swap it before you go

Right, some dealers will mark it under your file for future warranty claims but installing the intake itself does not void the warranty.

what ever its just easier say "just take if off before you go get ur car service" than it is to start bagging on everyone that has a question and might not know how to navigate the forum. its not as easy as google you know lol

Thanks for the replies. I've had it on for about two weeks and my wife is already complaining that "It sounds like a racecar". It's a bit too noisy. The power feels the no different (not that I expected it to be). The throttle feels a little better, but it's not worth the risk of voiding the warranty. I've got 60k miles of warranty left.

Sorry for not searching for the topic. I didn't think of that until after I posted. Don't be hatin' on me Metal. I just called a few of you guys out in another thread. If what I was saying was bullshit, call me out. I can take criticism.

I removed the intake. It's too loud and it's not worth voiding the warranty. There was a significant different in throttle response before and after. I don't know if that equates to increased HP. It was louder and more jerky. It also seemed to rev quicker with the intake.

I smoked weed in high school. I'm a grown up now.

What intake are you referring to? I put in an Injen intake and it is loud at around 4500 rpm but I like it. I do feel more pep while accelerating. It's not ground breaking but it is a small improvement over stock.

Some dealers can be anal about after market parts. the dealer I go to wanted to charge me $90 to align my xenons since my car is a little googly eyed. The reason they wanted to charge me was because I replaced the stock bulbs with Mtec xenons. I guess they charge since it is not stock and they don't want to be liable for non oem parts.

They didnt, but the test wasnt exactly properly done.

I had to grind down the inside welds on mine, and swap out to a different filter to make it actually preform, and added a second air duct from the front bumper to give it more air
