I would say that in terms of cabin noise, the gruppe M produces a lot more noise, while the box is quieter simple because of the flat fliter versus a cone filter. I have a gruppe M and it usually kicks in after 2500 rpm compared to a stock intake which is pretty even.

I feel there is a huge difference when I run a gruppe M veruss the stock box.

I think the Dinan intake maybe able to get you a little bit colder air, but because of the intake box design, I can't see how much of a difference it would make.
In Europe, the BMW filter is a cone shaped one with the performance intake.

I thought that the lower grill vents direct air to the wheel to cool down the brakes?
It can not reach to the engine bay...maybe I'm wrong

mind commenting a little more? and what's the process entail regarding the carbon filter removal...? Is it a PITA?

edit [Charcoal removal DIY]: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showth...filter+removal

I have like 7k more miles until my warranty runs out... Guess I'll be doing this soon after.

Anyway, I love my BMW Performance Intake. Not much of a sound increase, but I feel a recognizable improvement in throttle response throughout the entire rev band. I have no regrets whatsoever with this intake. Oh, I also have the MFD Air Scoops paired with this intake -- more air couldn't hurt right

Can you buy the EURO bmw performance intake if you want the cone type intake instead of the flat panel type?
