Turbo's apparently aren't the problem...

Hey guys,

So I've been super broke and married, as the whole modding game is a downward spiral. My father (bless him) finally had enough and gave my car in to a specialist in brands hatch to get my turbo's, downpipes, intercooler, charge pipe, RB PCV and BMS oil catch can fitted.

I owe Steve from A1BN an apology as I obviously hadn't had the time/money to get this done by him and was not aware that my paps had got this surprise lined up for me otherwise this would have been done there. It was finally given to a company called ETA Motorsports. They done my friends 135i (1M replica) with very similar mods, difference being my turbo's are stage 2 where as his were stage 1.

Really weird but I was told by A1BN that the turbo's were most likely to be gone, however it was hard to ascertain the root cause without pulling off the downpipes (at further cost) so didn't bother.

After speaking with the technician from ETA Motorsports yesterday, he says the turbo's are fine and the problem was coming from somewhere else (Further analysis was needed).

At this moment I can only guess but I think it was either a breather problem/Map issue. May also be resolved by the installation of the oil catch can.

Any input as to what the issue could have been would be much appreciated?

Should be getting the car back either tomorrow morning or Monday.

EXCITED!!!!

Garage List
2010 E93 335i DCT  [0.00]
2006 E92 335i  [0.00]
Just saw this thread, lovely car!

Is that the Bromley PC World you're parked in? You're just down the road from me, I'm in Hayes.

I'm going through a similar process with my E93 at the moment, I've fitted the 313s from Chris @ ******** to replace my MV4s and am happy with them but damn, they're heavy. I went for 225/265 tyres front and rear and they're rubbing on the rear arches so have to roll them.

I'll be doing a full build thread on mine shortly but currently the list stands at:

- 313 rep alloys with Goodyear Eagle F1 all round
- VRSF Charge pipe/HKS SSQV4 BOV
- VRSF Catless downpipes
- Injen short ram intake
- Remus racing quad exhaust / CF quad diffuser
- Evolve remap
- Evolve FMIC
- MTEC slotted/dimpled discs & EBC yellowstuff pads all round
- H8 LUX LED angel eyes
- Interior LEDs
- BMS oil catch can
- Rob Beck PCV
- probably some other stuff I've forgotten

Some completed and some pending over the next couple of weeks, my garage is full of parts boxes and the missus is getting suspicious!

Hope your issues are resolved when you get the car back!

Ah pleased you got it sorted. This is gonna be one hell of a set up once run in, re yours we saw it on a Saturday and your right was suspected that the turbo's may well of had an issue(like most 335's that smoke and indeed like mine that actually went yours was displaying the visual symptoms)we only discovered mine were shot by removing them and inspecting and we found that one was internally carboned up and one had sufferd the usual blown seal syndrome(hence the wet oil on the off side tail pipe)but while driving mine emmitted smoke. When we looked at mine one turbo shaft was stiff(carbonised and one was wet both sides which was the one with the blown seals)

But is difficult on first introduction to be 100% sure hence the need at hte time to remove the downpipes(which would of really assisted in closing down on the problem) but really pleased as said that you've got it sorted.

I will do my best to get some figures on here. Should be able to get it down to Evolve for the remap and hopefully get some dyno figures from them.

Extended Paddle Shifters

So I bought the paddle shifters from Sean, nice one mate, and finally got round to fitting the extended paddles to them. Everyone may not like this but I do and each to their own I suppose. Can't wait to get these fitted!

new bits wooo

Bought some more bits for the second wife haha

Haven't posted any updates in a while..

Bought a set of mats which were crazy good quality for £11 honestly they feel really good and at that price I'm not too bothered if they don't last long because it beats oem for £98... or £29 for Performance all weather ones from leebmann24... which by the way is an amazing site...

I'll post pictures of everything but for starters here is the mats coil packs and sparks...

Mats = £11 ebay
Coil packs & sparks = £195 carparts4less

Also ordered OEM M3 steering wheel trim, OEM BMW Performance stainless steel foot pedals and an OEM latest part number HPFP all for £330 delivered from Leebmann24... they all got here today and in one peace

Just waiting on Sean for the M3 steering wheel but in the interim he's kindly given me his SE steering wheel temporarily until he can get his one sorted out and free up his M3 one for me :-)

I've put some pictures up with my paddles and his SE steering wheel. Let me know your thoughts... I'll get more pics up once everything's on...

Edit... Thank you to Mob17 for the Leebmann24 recommendation. You sir are an absolutely gentleman!!!!!

All in good time better to be patient and do it right.

I'm actually getting some work done on my car as we speak and should get some dyno prints by tomorrow. Can't say more than that

I think you've gone and bought an EGR delete, a DPF delete and an uprated intercooler, maybe wagner or stett? And you're getting a remap done... I'm kind of excited for you?! :-P
