Cruise control Retrofit

Hi, there. I'm the owner of an 318d E91 from 2007. My car didn't come with a cruise control but I think it's a very usefull function. I bought an used one from ebay and my Mechanical installed with no problems. It workshop fine, only no information of activated cruise control on cluster. However, a few days ago, I tried to turn on the real wiper and the stalk doesn't go foward. I didn't noticed that it was from a E90 and not a E91. I have talked to the seller and he says that I can change the old original stalk in the New direction module, that they are interchangable. Afterwords, I talked to my Mechanical and he says that they are not interchangable because they have differente Number of pins. Can anyone confirm me any of this information before I start to dissassemble the parts.

Thank you.
