Which oil do you use?

N53 330i 2007

Going to be doing interim services on the 3 series. What are folk using? I remember buying oil recently but it seems to have went up in price!

Triple QX on eurocarparts is cheap (5w-40)

But can’t find specs on the stuff. Everything else is working out fairly pricey for oil

Does the 330i take 5w-40?? My 2007 330d takes 0w-30, and I'd assume that the diesel would need the higher grade, if anything....

Anyhow, I use Castrol Edge. I know that anything LL-04 certified (in the right grade) should be fine, but I can't shake the thought that Castrol *could* be better (and was recommended/used by BMW for this engine). You only get one shot at using bad oil...

I get oil from Opie Oils, or eBay, generally.

Got my filter tool from Halfrauds (Laser tool, I think)...online would probably be cheaper, but I needed one quick, and have a trade card.

I use Castrol Edge 5w-40 in my N53 330i. I do some spirited driving now and again hence I figured the higher grade may help.

I used Castrol 5w40 on my 330i, worked really well, tempts are kept down too compared to 0w30 I used previously!

I ended up using 5w40 on my n52 too

I got myself 20 litres worked out cheaper

I use Fuchs Titan gt1 5w-40, usually get it when it's on offer at Opie.

I'm just waiting for my oil analysis from my last change so will see how that looks. I use use miller for oil analysis.

I have the Beta 16 flute tool for the oil cap, I found the other one on amazon a bit sloppy. I think I got the beta one from amazon possibly amazon Germany.

Always use Bosch or Mann oil filters.

Castrol Edge 0w30 in my 320i N43 and I use a Mann oil filter. I change the oil once a year (will be doing it this weekend). I usually get a couple of 4L when they're on offer in Costco. It's irritating that I can only find it in 4L bottles though. I know you can get 5L but can't seem to find it anywhere.

+1 for Fuchs Titan gt1, I've used Fuchs for years in different cars. It's good stuff.
