Is anyone using one from their shop? Is the sound quality issues fixed with theirs? Is it just an Avin unit with good customer support, or a whole nother brand of unit? The majority of my music will come from the SiriusXm app I would install on the unit and Spotify

After Avin install - No warning tones, No audio - MOST connector in head unit
I had to bring it to the dealer, it took them a while to figure it out.
Turns out the MOST Fiber Pins coming out of the back of the Radio were pushed into the head unit. They were able to take the radio apart and push them back out. So now I know somehow the AVIN connector/splitter that plugs into the head unit with the MOST cable moved to it, somehow pushed the head units MOST connection in. Been very frustrating, now it makes sense. Picture included I hope this helps someone, if you know other places to post please do. The way I got it in safely put the big connector into the head unit first without the MOST fiber. After you see the pins in the head unit are ok, carefully push the fiber into the new connector already inserted into the head unit. Last edited by nolaman1970; 04-17-2019 at 04:06 PM.. Reason: Add |

That looks to me like a mometary mistake in location/direction. That is a normal thing. These (and all) systems use a combination of GPS, GLONASS, magnetic compass, accelerometers, etc. To determine direction and speed. Occasionally one false signal does that and is quickly corrected by the other info constantly coming in. That is why no good system relies on one data source. The best ones, like in my drone use all of the mentioned ones in duplicate as well as a barometric sensor, echolocation, IR sensors, and cameras for object identification, etc. It takes a LOT of data and processing for a machine to know where it's at and what it is doing.

Thanks for the reply Bob. I was hoping to confirm this from a member who has it installed. I will be replacing a CCC unit, so hopefully the sound quality is good on that one. I just don't want to buy a rebrand AVIN or some other brand that has the same issues many complain about on here. I use my AUX a lot with my Logic 7 and currently have great sound quality, something I'm not willing to sacrifice.

The sound quality is decent. I'll post more feedback once I play with it more. I don't plan on using BT with the android side
the screen is still pretty reflective even though it has an antiglare coating on it Last edited by sunny_j; 04-15-2019 at 02:03 PM.. |

I have my Avin sorted out now. Using the Aux in the center console for Android sounds and music via Red USB on the Avin 60gb jump drive with music, I pulled into the glove box. Waze sounds with the music playing, it just turns the music down while announcing. The sound is about the same adjusting the Aux to your liking in IDrive and in the Andriod unit to about 20 or 22. I have an E93 with the top down in full sunlight it is hard to see, but other than that no complaints so far. Aux sounds much better than Bluetooth, which I am not using anyway. But bluetooth didn't sound really bad. I like having Waze connected to the NAV button on the center console. System boots to Android quickly, wired reverse trunk release camera works better than the wireless one, which I will sell now. The reverse camera comes on instantly, no need to wait for boot up. Front view camera mounted inside the rear view camera housing purchased with the Avin works great with 60gb micro sd card in the camera housing. Purchased the wifi obd connector for temps and such. Wifi cannot connect to phone and odb at the same time, one or the other. So probably use odb as needed for torque, temps when not using Waze. I have the 8.1 version. GPS splitter works for the trunk shark fin for both Android and BMW maps. Still learning it, but if I can help let me know. Oh my post about the fiber, it's best to plug the big cable in head unit first then push the fiber into the big connector. The MOST pins can push into the head unit. Avin did respond via chat and sent instructions, as none were in the box, you can get them from signing up for support account.

That is already available on the 4x4 shop website. In that end I didn't think the extra cost for the snapdragon CPU was worth it. When I checked the benchmark scores on geekbench they scored almost the same. The Snapdragon did score a little higher in multicore but that doesn't matter since these units rely on single core speeds

(Nolaman1970) Do you know if there is an easy way to get the CIC functionality without changing all components to CIC from CCC? I ask because I have a 2008 E93 with CCC and would love to have the controller with more quick access buttons. I am guessing that since it connects to the old radio I would still have to use a CCC controller but figured I would ask if you know. P.S. I live in Kenner (brah) and was born in 1970. I assume that may be what the 1970 is in your signature?

I made the swap on my 2008 e90, though I'm using it with my Android head unit and Carplay almost exclusively. |

JonEQuest best answer above. As mine is 2011 with CIC cannot help CCC.
I did find out something annoying today. When I press my "M" button on the steering wheel the Andriod music shuts off, like pressing CD changer button. The display exits to CIC car display. Click the screen to get back or maybe hold Menu to get back to start music or select Waze already running. So any M cars would have same problem I guess.... I hope someone can confirm for me.
