N46 CEL error 2B63

Hi all,

Hoping someone here may have had a similar experience and might be able to help. I have recently starting getting a Check Engine Light on my e90 320i, and when I run the diagnostics I get 2 fault codes 2A59 (VVT-leading sensor) and 2B63 (camshaft sensor outlet). I believe the CEL is being caused by 2B63, as I am consistently getting this fault code, and the 2A59 code is intermittent. Possibly a slight loss of power at higher RPM but car still drives relatively ok.

After doing some research on 2B63 I tried switching the inlet and exhaust camshaft sensors, but that made no difference. The fault code remained on the exhaust side. For good measure, I also swapped the VANOS inlet and exhaust solenoids, but that made no difference either.

Tried to run some further diagnostics and the camshaft positions are input 119.6 and output 120 degrees which I believe is normal. Came across the Camshafts adaption screen and the indicators here appear to show a problem - output sitting at 41.7 and input sitting at 101.4.

Any ideas on what the problem could be? Would greatly appreciate thoughts and expertise.

Cheers, Michael

Hey mate, no I couldn't get anywhere in trying to fix myself, and I was itching to upgrade to an F30. So instead of spending the money to get it fixed, I just sold it unreg and upgraded
