My band in action...

We played a cracking set for my wife's birthday last Saturday and pulled out the stops with lighting and PA. Thought I's post a few of the live shots. They were taken on a Canon EOS 1D MkIII, owned by the singer, who takes a lot of photos of stadium gigs and the official shots of the Sheffield Steelers. He took some photos on stage with one Canon, whilst a friend took some from the floor with another! Don't ask me what the lens was, but it was enormous and bloody expensive! Anyway, these are just a few samples that he emailed, so quality is reduced. There are many more to come apparently!

Yep the sound was pretty awesome. Serious PA and a good sound engineer! We like to take these things seriously.

Trixman, I suggested that our guitarist should really have more Marshalls on stage, but he just wouldn't listen!

Just noticed he has a fan next to his pedalboard too....

Does he do the Michael Jackson "hooooooooooooooooooo" with the fan on full blast during leadbreaks?

ETA: Looks like a great gig though. Some heavy equipment you got there!

Damned heavy equipment! We didn't really need it all, but wanted to put a good show on as it was a birthday bash.

Hi Geoff. The name of the band is Familiar Strangers...at the moment. The name is subject to change. Basically 4 of us used to play in a band called Wasteland, playing original material and recording. We all went our separate ways, getting together in other outfits from time to time. Hence Familiar Strangers.

The guitarist is younger than the rest of us and was pretty serious and toured around Europe with various bands. He also played Wembley Arena as a session guitarist with a very well know pop band, but I can't publish their name here!

We got back together specifically to do 2 birthday gigs and recruited a new drummer. we've enjoyed it so much that we now want to keep going. So no vids on YouTube yet, but we might post some of the party video once we get it.

Bloody guitarists always want to be in the spotlight...

The pic of me shows a grimace not a smile. a) my hands are hurting cos it's a difficult bit and b) the shades are not Rock and Roll chic, but there to stop my contact lenses melting onto my eyeballs in the glare of the bloody great light that is whacking out x million degrees at me.

My friend couldn't belive how heavy the damned thing was...then Rik told her the price of the camera and lens she was waving around! Made for a slightly nervous night of photography!

He's sent me some fantastic shots of gigs that he's been officially allowed to photograph. Unfortunatley, due to copyright issues I can't post here unless iI get his express permission. He's doing Nickleback at the MEN next and AC/DC at Wembley!

It's an epic camera! Just been reviewing some photos of the gig taken on 'normal' cameras...some of which are bloody good pieces of kit; but not anything like the shots on the special Canon! Can't wait to see the rest of the shots. Might have to bore everyone when they come through! So proud of this band and the show we do!!
