horsepower envy

I was driving to work the other day and this a-h..e pulls up to within 3 feet of my rear bumper. There were 2 lanes going in our direction of traffic. As soon as a gap developed in the next lane, he blew by me. Frickin' mazdaspeed 6 or whatever the f it's called. So I took the bait, and was able to pass him again only because my lane was moving faster now. A few moments later, and after a couple of dangerous maneuvers (on his part), the f-tard is blowing by me again, with tons of speed, and nodding his bushy head like he's playing an air guitar or something, and he has this sh** eating grin all over his face, and he's eating an apple nonchalantly, all while going 100+ mph. Dear BMW... please give us some real horsepower (and torque) so that we can dismiss these wannabe bmw-conquerors. A Mazdaspeed 6 should not have beaten up on a 330i so easily!

They're both different cars designed to do different things. 255hp should be plenty imo. Or you could just wait for the 335

No, it wasn't THAT easy, but if you could have seen the f*c*i*g grin on that guy's face, you would be upset too. Just want to kick his ass.

Appreciate your response. I'll get over it. Eventually.

if you want to have the fastest car around, you're never going to be happy.. trust me, i went from a car with 300hp, then 400, then 500, then a 750cc bike, and it was never fast enough. When I had my bike, I raced a bentley gt to 160mph (west texas, there is nothing out there) and he was right beside me (they have 550hp).. I caught myself wanting a 1000cc bike.. fortunately (or rather unfortunately), i wrecked the bike, and realized it was time for a change of priorities. Now I have a 330 which is a VERY nice car and does what it is built to do. Sure, I can't drop it into 3rd at 60mph and smoke the tires, but really.. how much better off is someone who can do that?

You have the best sport sedan (imo) on the market.. just sit back, turn up the radio, smile, and enjoy life.

I beleive it's the driver, not the car......my friend beat my 330i with his Corrola...........reason: he drives wreckless, and i drive safely in a fast way....

I bet you COULD beat that mazdaspeed guy....you just need to be more stupid than him and floor the car and cut lanes like crazy to get rid of him....

but would you??~....be that stupid??~....

You lost becuase you are smart.....i don't want to hear about a 330i getting wrecked cause the drivers wants to win a race.....

hi chinese guy, i had an interesting experience once 1 month ago. i overtook a e46 bmw at a bend on a two lane road leading to an expressway. he was driving slowly and i overtook him with clear distance of one and a half car lengths in my 2002 corolla. after that when i looked in my rear mirror, he was charging up my ass trying to overtake me again. he then drove like a mad man to overtake me and than cut right in front of me.
do you think his pride was battered when my jap corolla overtook his e46bmw? male pride is a strange thing.

If you let a mazdaspeed 6 beat you like that, blame your own driving, not the bmw. the 330i should more than hold it's own against that car.

Now, before someone chimes in with a "but he's the smart guy for playing it safe...the other guy is the idiot because he's going to crash his car" remember that the OP is the one who is whining about lack of "horsepower" because he got "blown by"...he's not saying "yeah...the other guy was driving reckless and got past me, but hey...I'm in a bimmer and he's still driving a mazda."...he's saying "help! my car doesn't have as much HP as the mazda! Help!"

Horsepower ain't everything...and remember the 6 specs (274hp, 280ft/lbs of torque) are peak specs from an I4 turbo...which means the power curve isn't going to be as impressive as a 330i's...turbo lag and power dropping off at top end plaque the 6. also, the 6 is 100lbs heavier than the 330i.

oh...and in case you were wondering, mazda says the car goes 0-60 in 6.2s. That's not exactly Evo and STI range.

Think about all of that before you blame your lack of driving ability on your car.

...sorry if I come across as harsh, but I'm getting tired of people who just look at the specs and say to themselves "my car has 20 less HP...it MUST be slower!!! Help!!!"

i agree with kungfu joe, a powerful car can be humbled in heavy/ moderate traffic. i had been chased / tailgated by a subaru wrx and e46m3 in my e46 kerscher kitted 318i in heavy traffic and managed to get way. obviously, in a empty road with no traffic, the scooby and the m3 would have decapitated my 318i.

Agreed. In these situations, it's more about your wits and ability to predict traffic patterns than the actual car you're driving.

I really wish everyone on the road could view it from your perspective. Really in truly, it gets to a point when you ask yourself how much is enough? I really couldn't care less if the guy in the IS350 can smoke me up and down the street. That doesn't accomplish a single thing other than burning up fuel. Around Houston 215 hp is MORE than adequate. I don't need any more excuses than I already have to get a speeding ticket.

That Mazda Mazdaspeed6 has too many letters, syllables, and "Mazdas" in its name, and too many circular light fixtures - 8 in the front, 8 in the rear.

Romulus hit the nail on the head. Whenever I decide to do some spirited driving, I do where no one else is around. I like to drive my car for the sake of driving to see where it's limits are, not to race every punk-ars kid with a turbo-4 or a Hemi. You would have been the better person to just continue cruising without acknowledging that Mazdaspeedfreak.

Besides the side-crash test ratings, I like the Speed6. Different car than the 3, but still a fun drive.
