COBB AccessPORT for the 2011 BMW 135, 335i and 335xi

COBB is extremely happy to announce the release of the AccessPORT for the N55 powered 2011 BMW 135, 335i and 335xi. We have been cranking extremely hard to get this out – with our best engineers working on making this a terrific product.

This is a Beta release – which means that although the support and tuning are 100% complete and, frankly, awesome – we don’t support every single ROM on the road right now. As most of you know (but your friends might not), a ROM is an individual calibration file that makes small tweaks to the Engine Control Unit from the factory. Usually these changes are small and completely imperceptible to the consumer – however, we always want to support the latest the OEM has to offer so that all of the safety and reliability that BMW engineers into its vehicles stay there. It takes more work to do it this way – but we think it's best for you and your car.

As such, during this Beta release of the AccessPORT, it is expected that several customers will need to send in the ROM data collected by the AccessPORT before the installation can be completed. Typically, new ROM support can be added in only 3-5 business days and is as simple as emailing your ROM information, and then completing an AccessPORT update on your home computer. As we collect more ROMs, the chance of having an unsupported ECU software revision goes down significantly and the sooner you can enjoy the added power!

The AP-BMW-002 will come pre-loaded with Stage 1 Sport and Stage 1 Aggressive power maps, as well as a Stage 0 map and Valet mode for reduced power when needed. Using the Aggressive map, you can expect an 11% increase in peak HP and a 25% increase in peak torque. The area under the curved is also massively increased with maximum power gains near 18% in HP and 26% in torque. Stay tuned for more maps (Stage 1+COBB FMIC) and updates coming soon as N55 development continues! Click the link below for more information and to get yours now!

We are working to pull in a late model 2012 to see what ECU changes have happened. We want it out as badly as you.

Cheers,

Since we are flow (turbo limited) on the n55, expect ~390hp on a dynojet on Stage 2 / 3 Aggressive. Pretty much like Procede / JB4, there is no magic there, 19psi low/mid range going down to ~14psi above 5500 RPM, with ~10 to 14 degree of advance towards the higher rpm range.

I know you would like to hear "Yeah buddy, Stage 3 will be 450hp / 500ft/lb on stock turbo"... But that's dreaming... Wet dreams...

You'd think that somebody would be well into development of an upgraded turbo for these cars. I remember when I had a B5 S4 and the stage 3 kits (larger OEM turbos, fueling and software) were $7000. People practically lined up to buy them.

There is definitely a difference in platforms and their consumers. If I told my Honda friends $7000 for a turbo kit they would poop themselves.

I hear what you are saying though.

True, their is no magical power once your turbo's can't breathe.

My point was kind of expressing incredulity at the fact that no one seems interested in developing a solid aftermarket turbo solution when the money is obviously there for the taking. Half of the members on this board would probably not think twice about dropping $5-8K on a complete kit that offered 400+ whp. I think it might be more along the lines of not having the technical know-how rather than lacking the desire. The N54 is more of a 'traditional' turbo six in that it uses two tiny turbos much like the B5 S4. To go faster, simply upsize the turbos slightly and trade some lag for much more flow. With this dual scroll thing it is infinitely more complicated. I don't even know of any other production 6 cylinder with a single dual scroll turbo as a point of reference. I know the outgoing 911 Turbo used a couple of adjustable vane turbos. Anybody know of one?

The Porsche VTG is much different from our turbo! You can't compare them!

I read a lot of threads were it was discussed that the difficulty in tuning our N55 is integration of the Valvetronic and the new DME's... The hardware isn't the problem to upgrade i think ...

BMW PPK cars dyno mid-270s at the wheels so this is +30ish. Wheel torque on PPK is more like 300 even.

I don't know yet - but I have a base line for stock and the PPK on my N55 135i both with the performance exhaust. My numbers with the SAE correction were Stock with PE - 266 HP, 278 Tq, and PPK with PE - 286 HP and 327 Tq . With the Std correction stock was 270/290 and PPK was 294/336. All pulls were with our standard premium gas - 92 octane with up to 10% ethenol. The tq readings are a little misleading as there was a bump of about an extra 25 to 30 lbs tq between 2600 and 2900 rpm. Over most of the power curve there was about a 25LB increase in tq over stock. The graphs are posted in a thread entitled 2011 N 55 dyno results.

Just got the Cobb AP today - will install after work and give the seat of the pants report tomorrow. If I can Dyno the car this weekend I will, if not will have to wait until January due to holiday travel plans. But I will definately be doing the dyno and we will able able to see what the Cobb brings compared to the PPK.

I think the reason why nobody wants to make an upgraded turbo for the N55 is because there probably won't be too may people in the market. How many can they possibly sell? 10, 20, 30 kits? There are no more of our cars being made so the # of people that want it is limited. But making it for the F30 will be a smart idea because like the N54 it probably won't change for a good 4 years. Thus always bringing new people in the market.

I think someone will eventually develop a turbo for our cars to see the capability of our engines.
