Was looking for an M-sport car for a while, gave up and started looking CPO - all cars were in the $35k range with mileage that I preferred. Then I was perusing ebay one day and saw an acura dealer with a 335i 09' with no mention of the M sport package and it was priced as such. So -- went down to see it; got the vin; still under manufacturers warranty for 15 more months, bought it.
Also this is my 2nd 335. |

Have loved BMW's my whole life. Had an E46 that I owned with an ex, split and sold the car. Met wife, bought houses, got married, had kids. After a string of cheap rides, bought a v36 G35 as it looked to be the total package on paper, but it wasn't. Drove the 335d and was hooked almost immediately. Crazy power / torque, awesome fuel economy and everything about it just FEELS right.

When the IS first came out in 2000, I was about to sign the papers for a yellow Automatic but the lowest rate they could give me was 13%, So I went across the street to BMW and got a white 330ci 5spd with a slightly better rate for a better car .God works in mysterious ways doesn't he..

The whole package -- for the price range, sure there are faster cars, more luxurious, etc...but for me, I love the way the E92/3 Series in general looks, feels, handles, sportiness, and luxury. IMO the 3 series is the perfect balance of these attributes. TBH -- the N54 drew me in first, and the test drive hooked me. After the test-drive, I didn't think of any other car.

Ever since I was young I've been a fan of BMW's.
My Mum had a white e30 325i convertible back in the early 90's. I have great memories of driving around France in the summer, top down with Queen blaring out the speakers. A family friend happened to own the e30 M3 at the time so I've always appreciated the M's as well. After the e30 my Mum had an e46 318i coupe which I loved the shape of. I drove the e30 but don't really remember how it felt back then, but I remember driving the e46 and I immediately liked the way it drove. When I was a kid, you were either a Mercedes kind of guy or a BMW guy. Due to my parents influence I guess I've always been a BMW guy. I was taught that BMW's were a better drivers car, whereas Mercedes just gave a more comfortable ride for the passenger. So it was inevitable that I would get a BMW, and most likely a 3 series. |

I thought the 335 had a lot of potential when it first came out. At that point I had a B5 A4 (stage 3) and had friends who were still tuning B5 S4s to high HP.
The 335 caught all our eyes. One buddy went from a tuned s4 to an e46 m3. I stuck with my A4, but loved his car. I kept my eye on the 335, especially the e92 xi. The combination of the engine, awd, and couple was perfect for me, but I still felt they were a little pricy at that time (had bought a house). The time came this year to get a new car (a couple promotions / new jobs later) and I was comparing the e92 335xi to an audi S5. The s5 was over $10k more for a comparable car so the 335 won out... Plus I got a great deal on a private party 335xi and bought it sight unseen (on dealer records and sellers word). I shipped it to myself from MN (I live in MA). I have put 8k on the car so far and it's been great. Did wheels, tune, suspension quickly (my normal to do list when I get a new car), and have more mods on the horizon. The car got 2 new turbos under warranty within the first week I owned it so I got lucky (picked the car up from the dealer with the new turbos after the bumper to bumper warranty expired). So far I love my e92 and don't regret my decision at all.

Owning a 3 series BMW is not dreaming big. That being said, love my 335i. The power, refinement, and utility are what got me. None others in this segment pull it all together as well in my opinion. |

I was looking for AWD + coupe combo. Infiniti G37 was another option but i didn't want another Infiniti after my G35. So i said "why not...lets see what all the fuss is about"

Because I'm cheap.
Actually I wanted a car that was somewhat of a jack of all trades, fun to drive, reasonably luxurious with modern tech features like Nav, a decent sound system, a reasonably usable rear seat, enough luggage space for Costco runs. I also liked the idea of a retractable hard top as it gave the advantages of a coupe and a convertible. Owning a BMW is not something that I aspired to and I have no particular loyalty to the brand. Quite frankly if I had know how poorly the sport suspension with the RFTs was sorted out I never would have bought it but at this point now that I have ditched the OEM RFTs for Cont DWS and have installed Koni FSD dampers I am happy with the car. Not sure what I will replace it with when the time comes. Practicality is no longer that big of a consideration since we purchsed a 750Li earlier this year. I will certainly look at the new 4 Series and M4 but I am also interested in the new Jaguar XF.

Story of my life ... I went through 5 cars in the past 3 years.. the BMW is my 6th .. But this one's a keeper! Bought other vehicles trying to find the vehicle for me, avoiding BMWs (love affair for 20 years) since my e46 let me down ... but couldn't deny it. Needing an AWD was the perfect excuse to get myself into the 3.
