Treo 700W

Did anyone get the Treo 700W yet? Does the bluetooth pair? What about the phonebook?

I'm thinking of getting this phone.

I got a Treo 700W (Verizon) yesterday. Spent some time last night setting up the pairing with the non-idrive 330xi that I bought in January. So far, I can get it to pair and can get sound through the car, but the blootooth connection keeps dropping after 1-2 minutes of a call, sending the call back to the phone's speaker. So far it has not recognized the contacts on the phone so I'm not sure if that function will work (consistent with people's reports about the Treo 650). Also the sound quality seems to be a little buggy (I hear crackling through the speaker on calls).

It is possible that the phone dropping / sound crackling may be due to where I live (in the hills of New Hampshire, only 2 signal bars on the phone) so I'll be testing this further today when I get to an area with a stronger signal.

In the meantime, if anyone else has further experience with the Treo 700w, it would be great to know. Also, I have read about BMW's CIP20 fixing some bluetooth issues, but would anyone be able to tell me whether new e90s built after a certain date already come with CIP20 preinstalled? And if so, here's one stupid final question - I bought the car in January '06, but where do I look to determine its manufacture date?

When you open the driver's door, there are some stickers on the side near the lower B pillar.

Update:

I tried everything with the bluetooth again once I was somewhere with a stronger signal. It now works great. I didn't have any more sound issues or issues of the bluetooth dropping off and reverting back to the phone. Still no contacts transfering, but maybe I can get favorites to transfer as folks have done with their Treo 650s?

Sound quality is great - people say it sounds like I am calling from a landline, better than it used to sound calling from a headset in the car.

There may still be a few bugs to work out - i.e. I noticed if I switch from the stereo to the car's voice dialing feature without first turning the stereo off, after I speak the number and tell the car to dial, sometimes the stereo comes back on and it waits a while to dial the number or doesn't connect at all. And there were a couple of times where I couldn't end a call from the car stereo button and had to press end on the phone. But these are tiny issues.

So basically I'm giving BMW bluetooth and Treo 700w compatibility a thumbs up! It certainly appears to work at least as well as the Treo 650s do, based on the reports I've read about those.

Update

The Treo 700W pairs great. The car and phone pairs automatically when I enter the car and start the engine. The calls are very clear also.

The phone numbers that are assigned to the speed dial transfers to the car. You can add one phone number to each number and letter. It's good because I don't need all my numbers to transfer.

So far this phone is great.

700W

My dealer's Sales Manager has a 700w (Verizon). I am thinking about this phone, so I asked them to try it out. They say they can't get it paired.

RyBMW...is your service through Verizon? I see you are in NYC, I am in CT so I assume are services are similiar. Did you have to download any software to make it work?

Does it matter where your phone sits in the car?

My Treo 700w is through Verizon. Verizon is the only provider that currently carries it.
I didn't download any software. I do have the CIP 20 update. Right when I left the Verizon store, I got in my car and tried to pair my Treo 700w and it paired instantly.

I keep my phone in my pants pocket most of the time. Sometimes when I leave the car, the phone and car will stayed paired for about a distance of maybe 15 feet or more.

CIP 20

CIP20 update??

I assume this is E90 software. If so, my car is due in March 10, 2006. Will it have this update or do I need to request it from the dealer?

Also, please clarify...your speed dial #'s xfer to the car? Just the #'s, or the NAMES of contacts as well?

If your car is due in March 10, than it will have the update already.

The numbers that are stored in the speed dial of the phone are transfered to the car. Name and number are transfered. It also depicts if it's a mobile number, a work number, or a home number.
