I usually use manual mode let it shift at redline from first to second then I usually shift it manually at about 6300 rpm's for the rest of the gears. If I don't feel like shifting DS is fine.

As for answering the original poster, I think the best way would be to put it in M1 and take off traction control and rev it up for 2-3 seconds before take off. Don't rev higher than 2,500 or you're going to end up like the guy in the video. then just hit the gas once that light turns green and your on your way for the win!

Not bad numbers for a first...its overwhelming at the drag especially for the first time. I have JB3, intake on my car. I ran 13.03 @107 my problem though was that I was running a higher map without having the exhaust, DP's, and intake and it was sunny 93 degrees!!! when I put my car on dyno 3 days later I found out that I was loosing 19 whp by having map 5 which was boosting higher power but was chocking up the car and the power grid was terrible. When I dyno'd it at map 4 , which alot of owners like coz of its effectiveness, its quick boosting 13-15 psi without chocking oem exhaust, dp's and such. I since have bought exhaust, DP's, Intercooler and upgraded to the 2.0 beta JB3..all that added to the existing mods I am told that I should expect additional 70-80 whp to my 352whp that I dynod. I just need to install all of that on ad hit the drag...I can't wait.
by the way, I have '08 335I with steptronic.

Launching should be done with M1, Traction completely off, rev at 1800-2000 otherwise it spins badly, at least in my case with the maps am running.

Traction control off. DS & gas. If youre running drag radials don't abuse the brake torquing because this is deadly and costly for any tranny.

I'm running a steptronic 335i sedan with 8.8085 1/8th mile. 1/4 tank 93oct. DTC on in DS mode (didn't use the paddles). Did not do a burnout before hand. And launched at 1500 rpm.

I think I met the average stock 335i sedan times but wondering if this is the safest way to drag a 335i once a month?

Another addition to the pool for guys with a lil less power...

JB+(75% w/ bypass) and BMS DCI on Nitto NT05 street tires
DA ~800ft, 80* temp, oil temp 210

DTC/DSC full OFF, DS mode (no shifting), No burnout, Launched at 1400-1500
13.01@107 1.84 60ft

Higher revs led to blowing the tires out and only had a couple passes to play with manual shifting and 2nd gear launches, which netted higher ET.
