Some love for the n52

Hey guys wanted to tell all you guys how reliable the n52 is...I still can't believe that my dads 2007 530xi just passed 300,000 miles and it just now needed a new water pump! I am at 126,000 and haven't needed one yet...hoping to get to 200,000 miles or atleast 150,000 before I need a new one...

Mine went out last summer at around 75k miles. I decided to change the thermostat as well since they say its a good thing to replace both of them. Got the parts from NAPA and am happy...no problems since. Good luck!

Haha yeah I know...it's funny my dad isnt very familiar with cars...he likes BMW and always had them but never would touch it mechanically...he only does normal maintenance whenever his Indy guy tells him to do stuff haha I think he just gets lucky...

Hope the good luck keeps with your dad and his car all the maintence I did was preventive wateroumo and thermostat was most pricey. Gunna do idle pulley belt tensioner and serpentine belt + battery in a few month.

I'm will to bet that most BMW owners just drive them and only go to the shop for maintenance and little else but they don't join forums.

Thats true. There are a lot more 328 than 335 on the steets but you can obviously tell that on the forum the N54 section is a lot more active than the N52

I want to see a pic of the 300K mile 5-series. A picture or it didn't happen.

Also, a video w/ good quality audio would be appreciated--I want to hear that sucker idle.

To tell you the truth I don't know everything that he replaced but I do know he just recently got a new water pump, new bushings, battery replaced, starter replaced, ac compressor replaced, and probably a couple more things, he also does the normal maintenance with oil, brakes, and plugs

It's an engine that represents 30 years of BMW R&D perfecting the same idea, no reason it shouldn't be reliable. The M54 is replaced is an absolute tank as well.

Sad they threw it all away.
