newbie question re min tire size

hey y'all

have a 2009 e90

bought some 19" 220m wheels. dude #1 at tire shop told me needed 225/35 and 255/30 tires which i then ordered online to have tire guys install.

of course, when installed, discovered those were smaller than oem. is this a problem for me?

really, i'm new at this so...be gentle with comments.

edit: looking now, i see tire dude#1 told me tire size for 328 19" rims....ignoring the fact i told him these were m3 rims. my fault, i' m sure but.....

hey - new development/question

update/background:

One of the tires seems to be flat. Brand new P Zero Run Flat. Leaking air from 2" section along bead.

Rim size is 9.5" Tire is 255/30 R19

According to Tire Rack, tire should fit a rim that size....

Anyway, when i picked up the car on saturday, it went flat on drive home. filled it - seemed to be holding. (oddly, the other rear tire was inflated to fricken 80 PSI!!!!!) reset TPMS. all seemed well with world.

then, today, wife driving and TPMS goes off again and, yup, flat.

so, not sure if the flat was due to (a) overinflation (ie: they made 'em both 80 and it caused a leak like this); (b) ripping during installation; or (c) tire defect.

THE QUESTION:

if it IS due to ripping during installation, what are odds the tire shop will say they only ripped b/c they were too small for rims? Put another way, should i put up with ANY claims by tire shop that a 255/30 is too small to fit on a 9.5" rim and it is MY fault for buying tires too small? or do i have good technical grounds to stand firm and say "no, the tire fit, you bozos just ripped it and then overinflated"

ps - ....this is why guys like me don't try to do these things ourselves. next time, i'll pay the mucho extra $$$$ and just get it all bloody done at the dealership rather than sourcing rims and tires myself. angry and feel like a fricken idiot.

You did not buy tires that are too small.

Its not just us stating this. The actual RMA (Rubber Manufacturers Association) and every tire manufacturers listed specs for tires in that size show it is correct and recommended.

Thanks again Gary.

I have now heard from guys doing the repair, and it looks like the leak was actually caused by very odd placing of a bar code sticker up against the bead (leak was along that exact same 2" of bead). TPMS did its job as it seems we caught/fixed things before there was any damage to tire (which makes me quite happy, as RFTs in that size ain't cheap)

Tire getting rebalanced this am and hopefully all is good.
