My MP3 CDs are generally 128KB encoded, so I fit ~125 songs on a typical CD. I wish I could scroll through them without hitting the feedback wall at the end of every screen.
I also have a 06' that I recently got a software update so that it will recognize MP3 CDs. How do you check on which version of the software you're running?

Also, when navigating the MP3 CD, you can only rotate the iDrive knob to the current end of list, to proceed further, I would have to click down on the iDrive knob or turn the knob forcefully to get it to navigate. Is this normal?

Thanks!

1 - You can't check without hooking the car up to the BMW service computer. You can kind of guess, based on when it was programmed and features you have. If you have POI search on the nav, for example, you have at least v25. Basically, it's tough to tell exactly what version you have.

2 - That's normal. The feedback indicates you're at the bottom of the list. This is the force feedback this thread is talking about. Newer cars don't have it.

However, I get the force feedback even when it's not the end of the list. for example: listening to MP3 CD with 50 tracks. When you start, it lists the first 5 songs. If I want to navigate to the other tracks (6-50), I turn the knob clockwise, and when it reaches the 5th track, I get the force feedback as if it's the last track on the list. However, if I apply some force when turning, it would scroll to the next set of tracks.

^^ Yeah, that's what I meant. It's normal. You can see why they deleted it because it's not that intuitive. It feels like you're breaking it, turning it too far.

So it's not going to break anything if I continue to use it in this manner? Thanks for your feedback. Much appreciated.

Nope, it won't break. That's completely normal and the way it works.
