FYI Instead of spending the time to make fitting to for the oil cooler to run up to we got a 335 oil filter housing with fittings on it for the oil cooler. along with a 535 oil cooler since they have a oil cooler that has the surface area almost as large as the radiator. Which is important in the grand am aspects due to ducting restrictions and penalties |

First race was a great success! After Michael qualified the car 19th in ST, he and Barry picked up 7 spots during the race to finish 12th. The #21 328i was the highest placing BMW in ST and ran flawlessly, no mechanical issues at all. What people say about Koni is absolutely true - the car definitely needs some body work now
I will make a new thread about the race weekend shortly, complete with pics and more details about the whole experience. the fall-line GS e92 m3 Our ST car off in the distance Last edited by bayerischeperformance; 05-03-2009 at 10:38 AM.. |

Did you guys have to do any oil pickup/pan modifications? Since it's a wet sump system, do you have any concerns about oil starvation during sustained high-G turns?

so stupid question.... since you run r tires and modified suspension, wouldn't you have uncovered this issue already if it existed? mechanical grip would be similar between your car and the car in this thread?

And if there is enough starvation to cause long term issues, but not enough to create immediate problems, I wouldn't uncover anything until later on. |

So apparently sometime between one of our practices and the race part of the front strut broke completely stopping it from rebounding correctly and not
Valving correctly. Pretty much making the car ride on the spring alone on that side, making the car very bouncy and harder to handle. That plus a few little bent rear suspension components slowed us down. Also we were able to get the rear subframe out of the car in about 20-30 minutes no problems. We will probably add that to our list of things to do after each race and clean things up each time |

New Jersey Motorsports Park thunder track
Had an interesting test night at Summit Point last night. Brought the dog, went to register came back and she had locked herself in the truck she had also rolled the window down a little so one of the guys got a coat hanger in to unlock it. Aside from that testing went really well in prep for Watkins Glen this weekend. Cooling issues have been ironed out and we are getting the suspension tuning better tailored to our needs. |

Thanks for posting this. It's always fun to watch these come to life.
Now all we need is for you to start running a 128i in ST as well (blasphemy, I know). |

Had a good friday at Watkins. Found out early friday morning that we are down around 30whp from pretty much every other car in our class along with more weight and longer gearing.
Down the straights the mini's, civics, and GTI's really show that extra power but we are able to out brake and out drive them in turns getting on the brakes later and on the throttle sooner. Met a guy who tunes the mini's that was nice enough to hook up his tool to remove our top speed limiter and mess around with timing. For those of you that are interested and in the MAR we are planning to setup a tuning weekend and have him come to the shop to do regular tunes on any late model bmw and a day full of custom dyno tunes |
