What does this Error Symbol Mean ?

2 days ago I got this symbol on by e90, I called the BMW service desk Manager to ask what this was and he could not tell me. Called the BMW assist and they were useless as usual.

Any help please.

The Error Symbol looks like a car on a hoist.

I should have added that the car has less the 10K KM on it. It has not had its first scheduled maintanance.

interesting...... I had the exact same icon pop up on my car last monday.
i started the car and this pops up
Also the time/date in the car was blank...it did not register on either the radio or on the speedometer display infront of the steering wheel...i had to manually adjust and reset
I also noticed that i was listening to the radio the other day and sound just stopped coming out of the speakers..i changed stations it would play then stop...it continued on for about 10 mins...now back to normal
Maybe i should bring it back in????

Yellow is a warning - the symbol is take it in for service. Could be a tripped fault or just routine service. It'll turn red after you pass the scehduled date/mileage. If you walk through the service menu you should find the item - start the car, leave it in park, toggle through the onboard computer. Each item shows the next date or the km left to service.

That lift symbol means "battery discharge rate increase" Your battery may be dying or something is draining it faster than the alternator can keep charge. I had that symbol come on for about 3 days, and then my car wouldn't start at all, requiring a jump. My car is at the dealer now for the same symbol, problem. Good luck.

Went in for service this afternoon, they ran all the tests on the battery, the error was generated from the battery but the tests show the battery is working correctly so they would not replace it. There is no error anymore, lets hope it does not come back.

Thanks for the information.

I had that same fault symbol when my brake pad sensors were done. Since i have aftermarket BBK's i was like huh thats odd. But they have a life span on them as well.

there is a separate low battery warning symbol. I've tripped it by running the REST for too long in the car wash line on cold days...

Had the same light come on yesterday, just mine is red, it resets all my gauges, dates/time. it flashes all the interrior lights, and a message pops up on the idrive, saying "Electronic falut: stop driving, contact nearest bmw dealer"
when i did that, BMW told me they dont know whats wrong with it...
anybody else have better luck finding out whats wrong?

Error came up again this weekend, I noticed that the temp was a bit warmer, the erorr / fault went away when it got colder on Sunday. Wonder if I have a sensor issue.

I just got the same symbol tonight, pretty similar situation, only 12k, have not reached the first scheduled maintenance. Looks like I have to check with the dealer tomorrow.
BMW really sucks, they charged me $65 for a brake check last month due to a front brake noise and they just told me everything is fine.

was the light due to your brake sensor?

I sent the car to the dealer, they said the problem is with the battery and they have to recharge it, so after one overnight charging, they told it does not work, they have to replace the battery, the car is still with the dealer. Very dispointed with BMW, a car less than 1 year need the battery replacement!

The problem is solved now. What the dealer actually replaced is the alternator, not the battery. They found the alternator produced too high voltage. The dealer is Town+Country.
