Finishes

10K Tons Of Pressure

Our new forgings weigh as much as 120 pounds before machining. To form such a thick blank we require special equipment capable of 10,000 metric tons of pressure. This extreme pressure increases the strength of the aluminum by eliminating porosity and improving the grain structure.

True Motorsport Blanks

Many companies use 3rd-party blanks intended for non-motorsport wheels which can severely limit sizes, concavity, spoke design, and critical brake clearance. We designed our very own blank profiles from scratch which gives us total control over the final product, resulting in exceptionally deep spokes and stronger designs.
Learn more about our true motorsport blanks.

Side-milled Spokes

One of the most significant upgrades to our Sprint wheels is the addition of wider and deeper side-milled spokes. Any excess material that doesn’t add strength is carved out using a precision CNC ball cutter. Side-milling is often deemed cost-prohibitive by others, but for true performance without compromise we believe it's essential.

➡︎ 40-50% Wider
➡︎ 50-100% Deeper

Learn more about our wider and deeper side-milling.

A Stronger Lightweight Wheel

Our forged Sprint™ wheels are lightweight without the strength compromises found on typical lightweight wheels. First, we carved out as much material as possible, then we purposefully added one pound back to reinforce critical areas, creating a stronger inner lip and a higher load rating. What’s the point of a lightweight wheel if it’s fragile?

Weight Optimized

We conducted extensive Finite Element Analysis (FEA) to reinforce high-stress areas and to remove material where it didn’t improve strength. The result is a wheel that is exceptionally light without the strength compromises found on typical lightweight wheels.

Independently Tested

We don't rely solely on computer simulations or unverifiable in-house testing. We believe independent testing is critical to protect consumers in this unregulated industry. We chose STL, an independent lab in Ohio, to test our Sprint™ wheels far above JWL standards, including increases in testing duration, impact drop height, and total load.
Learn more about our rigorous independent testing.

Tough Inner Lip

Introducing the Sprint™ spec inner lip, with a unique channel profile that makes it even stronger than our previous designs. So even though our Sprint™ wheels are pounds lighter than comparable flow formed wheels, the inner lip is 32% stronger.

Learn more about our Sprint™ spec inner lip.

Big Brake Clearance

From day one, APEX has been on a mission to build wheels that clear big brakes. Our new forged wheels are the product of everything we’ve developed over the past 10+ years, including an innovative high-clearance barrel design and vehicle-specific spoke profiles.

Deeper Concavity

Our new forgings were redesigned to create extra deep, concave spoke profiles. Their new shape allows us to make any profile, from flat to deep and everything in between. Each one is optimized for a specific application using 3D laser scans of factory and aftermarket brake kits.

Paintless Knurled Beads

Whether it's a day at the track or months of street driving, repeated hard braking and acceleration can make a tire slip along the bead seat and go out of balance, causing vibration. Knurled beads help, but are less effective when painted over. Our forged line features unpainted knurled beads that stay sharp and maximize grip.
Learn more about why our forged wheels have unpainted knurled beads.

Built for impact sockets

Track wheels need track tools. Don’t settle for wheels that require undersized tuner lugs or thin walled sockets. All APEX wheels accommodate over-sized race lugs and impact sockets to make swapping wheels lightning fast.

Laser-Engraved Specs

As track enthusiasts ourselves, we know how frustrating it is to try to locate and decipher wheel specs that have been hastily hammered into the rim or become unreadable over time. With our new Sprint™ wheels, we chose to invest a little extra and laser-engrave the specs on the barrel, in plain sight, making them easy to find and read. (You’re welcome.)

Additional Features

Hub Centric - All APEX BMW wheels with a 5x120mm bolt pattern are purpose built featuring a 72.56mm center bore. No centering rings required.

Center Caps - We don't charge extra for caps and we design our BMW wheels to be interchangeable with the OE roundel cap for enthusiasts seeking a clean factory look. All wheels come with our gloss Black APEX caps included. We also offer optional gloss red or gloss blue APEX caps.

Hardware - APEX wheels can be used with all OEM mounting hardware, proper aftermarket hardware and wheel spacers. Wheel locks and stud conversion kits also work perfectly.

TPMS - All APEX wheels accept OEM and aftermarket Tire Pressure Monitoring Sensors and standard fit valve stems. If your vehicle isn’t equipped with sensors or you choose to bypass them for your track/race car, then select from our metal stems available in multiple finishes.

Lifetime Warranty

All APEX wheels come with a lifetime structural warranty against defects in workmanship and materials, plus a 1 year finish warranty. Exchanges are fast, easy, and hassle-free.

APEX Wheel Replacement Program

Curb rash or pothole damage on the street? Make an oopsie at the track? We’ve all been there. APEX is proud to offer 50% off replacement wheels, no matter the damage.

A Fitment For You

We’ve tirelessly test-fitted hundreds of setup combinations in order to provide direct-fit, spacer-free wheel packages for everything from showroom-fresh cars to all-out race builds. Our detailed fitment guides help you avoid costly trial-and-error and walk you through every step of finding your perfect setup.

How APEX Engineers A Better Track Wheel

Crazy to think, but this is our first ever, in-depth video about any of our wheels.

Our engineering team put 2 years of hard work into our new Sprint Line and the forging dies that made them possible, so we were compelled to create a technical video that dives into the details. This video has a lot of great content our product descriptions don’t include. After watching, we’re confident you’ll truly appreciate why these features are so valuable.

If you're craving more content, this should quench your thirst.

Can I fit VS-5RS 17'' Apex Sprint rims on my non-M3 E92 with a Stoptech BBK ST 60 front ST40 rear?

Assuming I can, what is the widest tire I can run front and back?

Is there a reason I can't preorder the 17s online?

Will you be offering tires with the group buy so they will show up mounted and balanced? Not a big deal if you don't and probably more of a hassle for you.

18"s will be available in this initial Group Buy but 19"s will not be ready until March of 2022.

At this time, these wheels are only available via our Group Buy. However, we will eventually move to regular retail sales through our dealer network at a later date.

We've added the full tables of incoming fitments and their specifications/ETAs to the OP. As you can see, this is a massive range of wheels that we will be bringing to market over a short time frame and this is only the beginning! Fitments that are not a part of the current ongoing Group Buy will have their own associated Group Buys prior to their arrival.

Click the image below to get a good look at our new sprint line wheels on a clean E92 M3!

These wheels are available in our most popular E9X Non-M fitments right out of the gate (18x9 ET30 and 18x9.5 ET35) and currently have a Group Buy to support their release! They are significantly lighter than our Flow Formed ARC-8s size-for-size and offer improved brake clearance and inner lip strength to boot!

Premium Finishes

Our New Sprint™ Line wheels are available in exclusive finishes right out of the gate. Brushed Clear gives a refined yet raw look that showcases our side milling and spoke profiles while fan-favorite Anthracite returns as a versatile option perfect for just about any color combination. Satin Black rounds out our finish lineup as the perfect understated option to provide contrast or complete a blacked-out look.

Which finish is your favorite?

Anthracite

Brushed Clear

Satin Black

Future Options

Beyond the custom forging blanks and weight optimization, our new forged production process is more flexible than ever. This allows us to include lower volume finishes and cater more to the needs of specific enthusiast markets that want a finish not yet included in our current lineup. Have a Satin Bronze or light Gold finish in mind? Something else we haven't even considered producing? Send us an email with the alternate finish you'd like to see become a reality along with your chassis and fitment details to experts@apexraceparts.com. Finishes with enough demand have a good chance of becoming a new standard option or being included in a limited run of wheels.

Brushed clear is sexy as hell, I assume the brush is done by hand? Looks pretty uniform.

The Max Discount and free shipping make this a great deal for sure! Any ideas on the wheels you'll be running with the R-comps?

As a group of track enthusiasts and racers, we understand how frustrating it can be to bend a wheel in pursuit of a PB or podium finish. Whether you find yourself 4 wheels off track on a safari excursion or creating your own driving line jumping treacherous berms, wheels are put through a tremendous amount of stress and abuse in the process – sometimes simply being forged isn’t enough to avoid bends.

To mitigate this, our engineers made a concerted effort to reinforce the inner lip of these motorsport wheels and created our stronger, Sprint™ Spec inner lip design. If you haven’t already, we recommend you read our technical writeup on our Sprint™ Spec inner lip.

When Function Meets Form

As wheel specialists, we understand that when it comes to reducing weight and increasing stiffness in wheel spokes, there is a big difference between functional and aesthetic side milling. Instead of milling a few negligible millimeters of depth just to look cool, our engineers optimized our new motorsport blanks to create narrower yet significantly deeper spokes with deeper side milling that is nearly 50mm wide on some wheels. The result is a stiffer “I” beam-spoke shape that also showcases a stunning aesthetic. If you haven't already, we recommend you read our technical write-up on our deeper and wider side-milling.

If I was to downsize to 18" I'm thinking of going with a 235/40/18 front set and a 265/35/18 or 275/35/18 rear set. Back fender is already rolled and I currently run 275/30/19 out back.

The tires id get are most likely Proxes R888R.

I would be using 235s in the front as well, as I have an XI model. 18x9 might be at the limits for this tire width, are there plans to release 18x8s or 18x8.5s? I did not see them on the list.

Additionally, seeking advice for the rear offset. Your guide recommends ET33 for the rear, but that does not appear to be an option for 18x9.5. I would prefer to avoid using wheel spacers, but I am definitely a fan of the concavity. Would love to see images of these (VS5-RS specifically) on an E90.

We will likely release a 18x8.5 in the future, but that will be sometime in the middle of next year. This hasn't gone through engineering yet so it isn't listed on our tables at the moment. The 18x9 ET30 should work well up front and can support a 235 section tire although the tire will be slightly stretched if the model runs narrow.

Our guide recommends 9.5" wide wheels in an ET33 offset for the 19" fitments I believe and the 18x10 ET33, but the offset I would recommend for the rear of most non-M3 E9X cars would be 18x9.5 ET35 which is available in the upcoming group buy. Pre-LCI e90s and e91s and all e92/3s can run 18x9.5 ET22 in the rear, but depending on the tire model this fitment may need rear fender rolling.

Our limited choice in sample wheels meant that we weren't able to bring over non-M3 offset wheels, but we should have some 19" photography featuring 19x9 ET30 wheels in the next month or two.

Thanks for the feedback Tom! Based on this it sounds like the ideal set-up for the rear of my pre-LCI 335xi E90 would be 18x9.5 ET28 as this seems a happy medium between ET35 and ET22. I do not intend to use anything more than street summer tires at this time and would like to avoid rolling fenders if possible to avoid rust issues long term.

Future release plans for 18x8.5s is great news! Do you believe this would result in another group buy opportunity? Ideally with the 18x9.5s being offered at that time as well.

Looking forward to more images!
