330i oil temp warning!

Hi wondering if anyone on here has had this issue or could point me in the right direction.

So me and my 08 330i were travelling to Aberdeen this morning and the amber oil temp light came up quickly followed by the red warning. Pulled over checked under the bonnet and couldn't see anything obvious and when I went back into the car the warnings had cleared! (Prob all in about 5 mins)
Made just north of Dundee and same thing again! Pulled over and with in 2 mins all warnings cleared! Journey ended at Brechin when I decided to get the RAC out. Plugged his diagnostic toy and no fault codes for the oil temp. He checked the water pump and it seems to be working, checked active grilles and they were working, oil level alright and coolant level spot on.

So decided to start heading home. Made it to Dundee and amber light comes on. Pulled over and decided to sit for half an hour. So I'm now at the shell garage and I've had to pull in 5 times now!

Anyone had this issue before or know what it could be? Any clues are welcome!

Im pretty sure your water pump has failed.

Thanks, is this something that can be intermittent or do they normally just fail?

Sounds like a failed waterpump. Does the engine management light keeping coming on in red once cleared?
