Service Advisors makes Commission?!?!

If they make commission then how can we be sure they are offering the right advice for the services we need and what's urgent or what can wait? And how much more are consider their commission? Maybe that's why BMW maintenance cost is so high, so high that you can buy a new car with the total amount of money you have to spend on maintenance.

Service advisors are known to oversell you on maintenance. They have a base pay and then bonuses based on how much they sell. I've worked at dealerships where the advisors are honest and at a dealership where the advisors will milk you for everything they can.

Only go to dealerships for warranty work or for recalls. For all maintenance, find yourself an honest independent shop or learn how to do it yourself.

Even if they don't make commission the labor rate and cost of parts is astronomical. Go to an Indy or DIY any out of warranty repairs.
