2010 335d Logic7 upgrade

Hi guys, i hate to beat the dead horse but after several days of searching i'm really not sure on what to go with.

My RSX is setup with Elemental Designs edi6500 component system with small SQ10 subs built into the trunk. Not the pounding type but music is so crisp, clear, and full. I want the same in the BMW.

I've read about SWS8's and amping the stock speakers up, resulting in great improvement.

Now amping the stock L7 speakers, is it just going to play louder or will it perform much crisper and better? I'm looking to just amp the fronts up, leaving the rears alone. But if theres a way to do the rears too, i guess so.

I'm looking for an amp that would best suit the setup, perhaps a 4 channel? (to also run the SWS 8's)

How would i wire this setup to the amp? Which ohm rating would i get the SWS? Do not plan on getting trunk subs for this car btw.

Thank you for any input!

EDIT ok found an amp to use. would i really need a JL Cleansweep or EQS? not exactly sure what the function of the device is...

honestly i dont know anything about the sound improvements after adding l7 speakers, i ordered them last week after getting the wrong ones.

well, u could buy a 5-channel amp a blaupunkt tha555, there are alot of guys on the forum who upgraded to this.

i used 4ohms, then i paralell connected the cables and connected new ones direclty to the amp.

i didnt cut any wires and only used plug n play harness.

easy thing to do, but took us 8 hours to get everything in place and look good lol. and im not even done with l7 midrange and tweeters

Unless you un-equalize the output from the OEM amp (not sure this is a word) it will just play louder not better, to do This you will need something like the DQL-8 or EQS from Audiocontrol that would be the easy option

Other folks are recommending JL Cleansweep and other summing devices but I'm not familiar enough with them to say anything so I will let them tell you about it

If you prefer a strong front stage just doing the fronts and leaving the rears on the OEM amp should be fine (that's what I did)

I recommend keeping the SWS-8 in stereo (I have done both mono and stereo and stereo sound much better) there are lots of good 4 channel amps out there and most people will recommend what they know like ,

but people here seems to say that good value are the Alpine PDX4.100 or PDX4.150 and if you want to power the rears the JL6600 6 channel is a good choice

for the wiring check the DIY sections there are a few well detailed threads

Alpine PDX-4's sound like a good idea, dont really want to amp the rears. 2 channels going to the front, and 2ch going to the sws8's (4ohm or 2ohm speakers?), correct?

do i need to filter out the higher frequencies to the sws 8's or would they be just fine running it as a regular speaker?

now when adding the amp, am i totally getting rid of the oem amp while i'm at it? or is it supplemental to the stock amp?

I found my old US Amps IS4085. its rated 85x4 @ 4ohms, 135rms @ 2ohms. Perfect for the setup right? Just need 2 SWS 8's both in 2ohm?

Nvm, found the answer.

So this is going to be my setup:

Us Amps IS4085 135rms x 4 @ 2ohm
+
SWS 8's

Any objections/suggestions? Thanks

- If you get the 2 ohm SWS you can only use two channels, so 135W x 2
- If you get the 4 ohm SWS you can bridge the channels into 250W x 2

EDIT: Never mind, I see you will need the other two channels for the fronts.

yes, the 2 other channels will be going to the fronts.

can i just cut and reuse the speaker wire for the fronts?
For example:

[OEM AMP]-----(factory front speaker wires)----[LOC]-------[AMP]---------[front speakers]

or would i need to run larger speaker wires to the front stage?

anything i can use besides an LOC? the amp doesnt have speaker level inputs....
