Elusive Fault Code 2aa4, P13BA
Hello all,
I am troubleshooting an issue with my 2008 535xi where the limp mode comes on and stays on constantly. Car has 120,000 miles. INPA gave codes 0x2aa4 (P13BA) and 0x3100. It appears that code 2aa4 is a direct cause of the 3100 in which the car lowers the turbo pressure to prevent damage. Problem is that I can not find much information about this code. 2AA4:Camshaft Inlet-Tooth Failure So far I have tried cleaning & swapping VANOS. Now I am doing the valve cleaning but I doubt that will solve this issue? |

I recently had my Z3M into a shop, thinking my VANOs needed servicing. Admittedly the S54 is quite a bit different than what you have in your 535. The reason I jumped in here is because ultimately the limp mode on my car was caused by faulty fuel pump. Motor wasn't getting enough fuel pressure when heavy throttle was applied. So, we replaced pump, filter, and MAF. Quite expensive, but problem solved, and VANOs did not need servicing.

Could be either the cam position sensor or cam shaft ledge. I see low oil level code too so make sure you have enough and proper oil in the engine and make sure the little o-ring on the tip of the OFH cap is in OK condition. Often techs don't replace this little o-ring that with time gets hard and causes cam shaft and vanos fault codes. Cam shaft ledge is expensive repair unless you know how to DIY

Do me a favor and keep me updated on your issue and I will do the same. Right now I am cleaning my intake valves, next is the cam sensor. |
