That's a good increase in fuel economy and just as well because going clockwise is a longer distance than going anticlockwise.

Quick search on AUC would show you!

Granted it's now technically 10 months but there are a few up at this price and some at 29-30k which could be had for less once the cost to change is calc.

If this will be the case, then this engine will definatley upstage the 245PS 330d and will be the one to get - but will be damn expensive, if the F10 prices are anything to go by.
We will have to wait a few months to find out. In July the 330d F30 should be released, then in March 2013 the 325d and 335d.

Just that the 118d is set up for sitting at 60mph, and if you like to sit at 80mph the 320d will trounce it economy wise.

Same with a 335d vs a manual 330d, more than the power or fact one is an auto it is the gearing, the 330d has a 2.35 final drive ratio where as the 335d has 2.81.
Sit at 80mph in the 330d and you are doing 50mpg, sit at the same speed in the 335d and it is revving 25% higher and only doing 40mpg.

Do you need the AWD of the X1? the RWD version is more fun, and I actually prefer the overall package to the 3 series, the 20d sDrive will return you over 45mpg, but most are only getting around 38ish from the AWD.

I get 44mpg from a 18d sDrive, but can easily see 49mpg doing the same runs in a 20d sDrive auto, better gearing for my type of driving.

Definitely take them out though, as you may be shocked at the results.

On a long run I get about the same from my Brabus tuned E320cdi estate auto as I do my X1 18d sDrive, around 40mpg vs 44mpg, however the average is 34mpg vs 44mpg.
Round town the X1 may drop to 38ish where as the E320cdi can be 25.
Hi gIzzE, thanks for your comments, i currently have a 2007 118d (143) and i have tasted the new 118d, 320d and X1. If i am honest the X1 really impressed me, much much more than i thought it would - i was amazed at how much speed you could carry and could feel the AWD working on the backroads where i live.

I think if i was to get the X1 then it would be silly of me not to get the AWD, i live in the middle of the Northumberland and last year my 118d couldn't move for 6 full weeks even with Winters on, my Focus (on winters) coped okay but still turned my 40 minute commute into 2 - 3 hours of intense driving.

Many colleagues and friends have suggested i look for a full blown 4x4 but for me that is too much of a sacrifice for a couple of really bad months when winters cope most of the time.

I have really enjoyed my 118d apart from all it can do is economy, if you attempt to drive it with gusto it is very thirsty for what it is simply because you constantly have to have your toe down for longer, so i completely agree with your comments especially in comparison to the 320d. I felt very much the same in my drive in the new 118d and couldn't feel the extra 20NM torque. I do like the Eco Plus mode but this is designed specifically for urban runs and offers very little advantage on the open road.

Interesting comments on the gear ratios between the 330d and 335d didn't know the difference was that marked - i see this similar to the old 120d or 123d issue where the 123d is much lower geared.

£32k! im actually impressed but would have to take an M3 if funds permitted

Looks very nice, i have always liked the look of the IS, specially in Sports and the later F-Sport models.... get one in Black or the Metallic Cadoxton slate and they are very very nice looking things...(at last in my eyes).

I do like the X3, a neighbor of mine recently bought a 20d SE and spent over £49k on it! . It does look really good but i think i am a little young for it... or would be better suited for when i have my own family

You only live once, you know you want the 335d once you drive one you won't be bothered my the mpg.

You will sit at the traffic lights in a 318,320,330 and someone with a big smile on their face sitting in their 335d will pull up next to you....that night you will cry yourself to sleep wishing you had brought the 335d

What also scares me, some seem a bit shallow as well.

Wonder if the motto should be "Happiness is a 335d", "Misery is a 330d"

Indeed, alot of these posters care what other people think :/

I bought my car because I wanted it and I liked the way it drove. I've never thought about a purchase on how other people would see me.

I could bet my bank balance the people in here have thought about perceptions from other people when deciding which car to buy.

Not really, I bought it because it made the most sense. I wanted big performance but do too many miles for it to be a petrol. Fairly straightforward choice really. It was down to a 335d, a CLK 320D sport or an A5 3.0tdi.

The outgoing 55 just used too much fuel, and the 335d was the only one that even began to feel anywhere near as quick. Thing is, once you've had an AMG engine, everything else just feels limp wristed. Sure, the 335d's got grunt, but its no match for the 55.

Wanted power and lower fuel bills

20mpg hurt a bit too much after a while.

is this right. I thought both 330 & 335d (autos) hit 80 mph at 2000 rpm in 6th. Surely the 335d wouldn't be pulling 2500 rpm at 80 ?

80 is 2k revs in 335d

I dont do many miles so probably dont need a diesel but I love Torque..........

It's funny but I can take passengers out in my car & drive faster than most of them have ever been in a car & they dont think I was really driving that fast but take them out in a car using 6k revs & then they think you are a racing driver.
