Provided my car gets built in time...I hope you wouldn't mind if a Yank shows up with a left hand drive!

You'd be more than welcome, we've never turned a Yank away yet.
We do set Viv on Renault's and anything else that tries to gatecrash the party though!

I'm pretty sure Floyd (SoYank) will turn up, as he is one of the American 'hardcore' members- Marilyn (Mickey) is the other. I'm not sure if she is going to make it- are you coming Marilyn? As I seem to be the UK meets co-ordinator, I can safely say that I will, without a shadow of a doubt, 'rip' into anyone who tries parking their 'non-approved' vehicle in our photoshoot line-up- I'm like a cross between a Rottweiler & a traffic warden! I gave Paul aka MF (beauforty) the ticket below, at the meet. He didn't bother paying & the 'boys' were sent round in October- I haven't seen him walking straight since! All the best Eric & please make sure you turn up in that 335i Viv |

Eight weeks to go before UK3. There's still a lot of planning to do. Things to consider:
Weather: · Planning for inclement weather. » I can bring the gazebo that remained in the boot last time. But remember, it's only 7'x7'. · Lighting: » Consideration needs to be made for the short amount of daylight. This date is before the equinox and we can't very well expect good daylight much past 5 o'clock. This could also limit any decent "spirited drive". Daytime Activities: · Video · Photo-shoot · Food » Barbeque (worked well the first time) » Pot Luck Type (bring a covered dish) · Neighborhood Harrassment, er, spirited drive to (should be nearby due to lighting concerns): » Belvoir Castle (if it's open) » Rutland Water (near Empingham) possibly a good setting for photographs. » Other? Evening Activities: · Dining: » Indian » Chinese » Italian » Pub » Le Fifth Choice, aka, Other Plate Covers: · I got mine.

Good list Floyd, plus we need to consider hotels if everyone wants to make a night of it for St Patrick's day.

Belvoir castle looked a bit closed this morning as I rode past. Sure it will be open by Mid march....But the Transport Cafe at Sedgebrook was serving a huge breakfast brunch..of course I ingnored that and had a toasted teacake as i had 20 + mile to ride home again plus my post xmas diet is in progress. so what time do we kickoff? Bearing in mind the lack of light beyond Using Belvoir castle as a location the sunset on 17th March = 18:12 So the best light for photographs will be Between 5 & 6:30 if we get a clear day...if not any chance we get. I will bring my Camera gear 17 Mega-Pixels should be enough. I will try and think of a good location.. Now I have said that I am bound to end up working 200 miles away.

This place looks ideal for accommodation: http://www.theoldpheasant.co.uk/ Its near Rutland Water and looks like a friendly place to spend the evening, have a nice meal and celebrate St Patrick's Day. Better than any travel lodge that is nowhere near any nightlife. Its £50 a night. If we get a group of us staying we could negotiate a discount.

However I think we would make our own nightlife, my daily commute goes thru Uppingham which is about 2.5 miles away from there.

Seems that the cheapest hotels (Travel Lodges) are in the middle of no where. At least the Old Pheasant (which is cheap) seems a nice place you could get a table, have a meal, drink all night and you only need to go upstairs to crash! Believe me, there are enough characters in the group coming to UK3 to make our own entertainment for the evening. The curry at UK1 was a blast and no one was even drinking because of driving home!! |
