I've started the dpf removal. At the point where I need to remove the engine mount and bracket. For those that have done it, did you remove the four engine bracket bolts from the top of the engine or under the car?

The engine mount bracket was removed from under the car when I did it.

I removed 3 from the bottom and the recessed from the top using a medium extension and my trusty Milwaukee 1/4" ratchet. I didn't remove the engine mount, just loosened it as one of the cover screws was obstructed by the subframe brace and I didn't wanna dick with that. It was a little tight getting the DPF out- not too bad. Be porting the 'gate and installing tomorrow.

I have downpipe back off for porting. Anyone can point me to thread where the 4 reamers that Iaknown suggested using? Also, how do you use vacuum to open waste gate up. I know, I need to search.

Look at post #33. You actually have to dismount the flap from the vacuum actuator. Don't forget to remove some material behind the flap so it can open fully.

Thanks Mike. I dug through there and elsewhere and got the 4 reamers ordered from buydrillbits.com. I found a good picture from either you or iaknown showing the details of disconnection of flap from actuator.

I didn't read close enough apparently. To get enough room to do the reaming job, I "GET TO" remove the mount yet again. Owe the joy I will have!!! While waiting on reamers to arrive, I will do that job and another one while it's on the jack stands.

When I reinstalled the engine bracket, I used my kids play doh to fill up the hole and make it smaller just the size of the bolt so that all I have to do is insert the socket and it would line up with the thread. No moree guessing. After the bolt tighten, fish out the play doh.

Really dumb question.

If I port the waste gate but still have stock exhaust still in place, will I have issues?

Free flow exhaust going on in near future and down pipe needed to be off for fixes. There isn't any way I'm pulling the pipe now and not port the gate and then pull again for porting later. Exhaust happening in a few weeks. I'm thinking I will have same intake pressure but it might be harder for control once waste gate needs to open.

Anyone else running ported waste gate with restrictive OEM exhaust in place?

Same here. I still have stock exhaust waiting for a iaknown's/2deer's solution for open exhaust.

You can try it without removing the engine mount, but I'd say it's definitely more comfortable with the engine mount removed. Come on, it's not that hard...

I did my "ream job" haha and my DP this weekend. Jess said it would be ok to port the WG with the stock exhaust in place. I asked him the same question. Should have my DDE's this Wednesday. Can't wait!

Just a heads up, don't try to do it without the mount removed, you won't have enough room to get a straight shot. Then you run the risk of going at an angle and damaging the turbo. Remove the mount

I won't short cut this. I plan to do it right and take off the bracket. Also will do the other helpful hint of grinding relief for flap to open farther so as to not nick it.

I just used a dremel for that relief. Took a little while but worked ok

A little grease smeared on the back of the flapper will tell you where to remove material. Without it you're kind of guessing....
