codes/cel/limp and warranty concerns

i did searches on this but didnt find direct answers
I am thinking about getting a piggyback tune
assuming the installation was done correct if there is a code or anything how do you clear it?
i have seen that it depends on the situation, but is it always as simple as just restarting the engine, or unplugging the battery, or worse remove and reinstall the piggyback, is there any case where more is required??

but all these problems are stored and the dealer can see it even if its cleared right? so has anyone had warranty issues with this? assuming that all mods were removed before visiting the dealer

If you can find a GT1 at a local performance shop then you dont have to worry about any codes or any limps that occur...........

I have one less than 3 miles away from me...........

Both of the popular tunes discussed around here have diagnostic invisibility to the dealer if run correctly. That is they won't set a dealer specific tampering code. The majority of other cels can be cleared with a good obd scan tool. Some go away on their own i.e. soft codes.

If you install your piggyback tune correctly having the car's battery disconnected there will be no code.

In case you get a limp-mode while driving, stop the car, turn off the engine, wait a couple of seconds and turn on the engine again. It's not a must that in such a case a code will be stored. Common used cheap code-readers cannot clear the BMW extended codes.

So what happen's if you throw a limp once, and it never comes up again. Will bmw question this and break balls for this one time limp?

i had BMW clear my limp code. lmao some cool dudes there.
i went there with the intake on, the technician guy goes to me....
pssh...Yo, you got a chip on this thing?
Me: Nahhhh, just the intake...I like to hear my turbos spool LOL.
Moments later i see them pluggin' something on the OBD, i'm like OH SHIT!
Then...i'm like "Yo, come here a sec. he goes wassup?
I'm like i did have a tune a few month's ago and it threw me a code so i took that shit off
as i have enough power for this car anyway..but i think the chip might of left a code in..
he's like Ok good thing u told me - I'm going to read you're car PRESS DELETE, then Re-Read it and then PRINT.
And that's it, some kid about my age was pretty cool about it but he did tell me not to tune it though...
but of corse i did not listen....
i came back home and RE-INSTALLED my JB3 asap. lmao
the code i had b4 was from my jb2h....hpill came loose.

Anyway...from now on i go to the dealer i'm taking every peice of bolt on that's aftermarket off!
