The look of an M3 is sometimes more attractive than the thought of owning, maintaining, and feeding an M3. |

The m3 front bumper looks a lot more aggressive in my opinion, don't get me wrong though I don't think I would ever put an m3 hood or m3 badge on my car haha

OP,
I've had two accidents with deer, once on the right side front 12 years ago, and just this past April on the left side front. I'm well familiar with the front-end components. Best case you only need a hood, front bumper cover, grills, and trim pieces above the grille. I have a May 2018 quote from a BMW-certified body shop, here are the separate repair prices for the various body panels involved with your accident; this is parts, labor and refinishing: Grills and Bumper .. - $1,389.30 Hood .................... - $1,148.30 Now, if the core support (radiator support) is damaged that's additional: Radiator Support ..... - $929.37 Hopefully the core support is undamaged. It's hard to tell from the pics posted however. Now to give you some comfort... my car is 12 years old with 349,000 miles on it and the insurance company valued it at $4,300 (May 2018). I'm sure you car is valued way above $4,300 probably close to $6,500 or more. KBB the value to see. You use the retail value, not the trade in value. It looks like worst case the damage is about $3,500 on a $7,000 car, so you are far away from it being totaled. Even if it was totaled, you'd get it fixed anyway since there is no structural damage. I bought my car back as salvage and fixing it.

A manual transmission can be set to "comfort", "sport", and "track" modes simply by the technique and speed at which you shift it; it doesn't need "modes", modes are for manumatics that try to behave like a real 3-pedal manual transmission. If you can money-shift it, it's a manual transmission. "Yeah, but NO ONE puts an automatic trans shift knob on a manual transmission."

Regarding headlights... My repair quote came back as $1,062 for a used left headlight. Online OE BMW part is $1,073; MSRP is $1,350. Keep in mind the new part does not include the HID bulb, HID ballast, and highbeam motor controller. Hella and ZKW are BMW OEM suppliers. You can buy new OEM headlights for $750, but again without the electronics and bulb. I found one for $645 used, and it wasn't in the best of shape either (I later found upon delivery and inspection). I had to make a minor repair to it. The ballast electronics box shows signs of impact. I tested the light and the HID lit for about 15 seconds then quit. I'm hoping the light is not damaged more than the cosmetics I found and repaired. I'm concerned the high beam shutter is damaged. Blabbering on just expanding on your point that the adaptive headlights have turned out to be problematic years later when needing replacement; they are ridiculously overpriced.

M3 parts on non-Ms never look right because of the proportions. And they haven't since the E36 as that car shared the whole body with the non-M. On E46 and E9X they look like shit as it simply doesn't flow with the car. The M3 fronts look like a dude with a huge jaw but scrawny physique. It just doesn't pull it off. :

Should cost you around 700-900 ( unpainted ) then 1000-1200 painted. if your going to the dealership. My advise would be to purchase an aftermarket m3 bumper if not the oem.

It's because of the aggressive look. When I was looking for my E90 I only searched for M-Sport versions because I liked the sporty look and didnt find base look very appealing.
I see nothing wrong with upgrading the exterior as long as most of the accompanying parts are installed. Just putting an M3 bumper on a base E90 and not doing things like suspension/rear bumper/etc will make stand out in a bad way. |
