1/4 mile time

This might not be the place for this but you'll have to excuse me...

I was wondering what I should expect out of this beast. We have a track night tonight for work and I'm gonna run the D. I'm hoping for 13.0 or impossibly high 12's. I'm in Florida and it should be about 50 degrees...

Mods that are done are:

2.8 Tune
Full exhaust
All deletes including swirl flap
Egr race pipe
ATM Cold Air Intake
Custom trans tune

What do you guys think?

Sounds about right depending on your tire setup

You should get to 12.6 maybe lower with a decent launch.

Be sure to read the TDIWyse posts where he talks about his setup and launch techniques.

I guess I'll search for it. I have heard about launching in second gear instead of first??? Not too sure about that though

Yes first gear is way too short and you can get wheel spin in 2nd with all that low end hp. Not sure about the torque braking technique though.

1st gear was all wheel spin. Start box looks like they haven't swept it since last week...

Gonna try a 2nd gear launch next. And yes...power braking to spool up

Haven't been on a track, but every red light I like to practice my launching and I find a brake boost really unnecessary. Also it's easier to feather the gas and not blow the tires without a brake boost. Maybe 1,000-1,500 rpm brake boost at most for me.

I think brake boosting in 2nd at 2k was more for a non deleted D. You'd probably do a burnout if you tried that in a deleted D

1k to low you should launch around 2k-2.5k in 2nd gear.

I think you're thinking a 335i not a deleted 335d. 2.5k is way to high.

Spun just a tick then hooked solid. Better tires and I wouldn't have spun at all I don't think. Took a second to spool also. I think a 1500 or 2000 RPM power brake would been ideal. Didn't get another run. Also had my 12yo in the front seat and a big ass speaker box in the back.

Your mph is looking decent but you need a tire that is a lot more stickier.
To make the e.t. to come down.

Nice! I'm sure that number will only get better. Takes quite a bit of finesse to launch these cars with out spinning. I'm hoping to get mine on the drag strip this summer

yeah they get off the line well in the initial release of the brake but then i find it starts to spin as the real power comes in.....

i wonder if you could launch in 3rd? or does it not let you?

That's just when you have to play with the throttle a tad and not just keep your foot in it all the way. Just takes time to get it down and of course stickier tires.ine were bricks. I only got 2 passes. With more time no doubt I would be around 12.8

Like was saying I think you're thinking of launching a 335i. 335i and 335d are two different beasts, with different turbo set ups, and power/torque curves. We don't need to rev that much for a good launch. Unless I'm missing something...

But I know what you're saying. I think 2k launch in 2nd is for a stock 335d

Lots of guys use wavetrac lsd. Quaife lsd seems popular in Europe. A search for either of those should get some results.
