I am trying to update my 2009 BMW M3 navigation maps and having a hard time. I have followed the directions in your post and I am able to generate the 1b.hex file. But the FSC generator keeps yielding an error:

incorrect RSA Key header/footer file likely corrupted.

I have tried 2-3 different USBs as well.

I downloaded the 2019 Maps already so those are ready to go. They are 4 massive files almost 18GBs

Similar errors have been reported in the CIC/NBT FSC Generator thread...

Jaeger was able to help me out with the 1b.hex file.

My vehicle still needs an additional step though, its a 2009 (production 09/2008). It looks like it doesnt currently accept USB update. I need the car software to be updated somehow

ICOM (which is a physical piece of hardware) and ISTA-P (software) to update the entire car.

Hi there, I wonder if anyone can shed any light on why i cannot extract the fsc. I have a 320d business edition 05/2010 build. It has professional navingation apparently. It has the usb in the glovebox but not in the arm rest. It has the 'i' tick on the nav.
The details of the map is ece bmw group road map europe motion 2010. I have tried 2 usb sticks both fat32 format. I load navigation, insert usb into the glovebox usb, wait but theres only the two files on the stick still.
Additionally my vin brings up an update for idrive on BMW site which i have downloaded but my version of idrive does not seem to feature the system update feature. Any help much appreciated. Thanks

MOTION is for Business navigation (Professional will show up as PREMIUM instead).

Make sure the file "copie_scr.sh" is on the USB stick.

After the navigation system has started completely, put the USB stick in the USB port in the glove box, then wait for about 3 minutes (30 seconds may not be long enough for some cars, especially if the navigation system is still starting).

After about 3 minutes, turn the car OFF then remove the USB stick.

Not sure if this has been asked, but if you have an existing FSC code from a previous map update is it possible to reverse generate a updated FSC code for a newer map? My car is unfortunately one of the ones that gives the 123456 VIN for the 1b file so I can't easily do that method mentioned in the thread.

i read all chat.. and maybe i have your first problem..

1: input usb in car with file 1b (and after it write on usb file 1b.hex)
2: download map Europe west 2019-2 (input it on root usb only pkgdb 22.7gb)
3 generate code with fsc...
4 input in usb ..but not happening..not start nothing..!

BMW X1 (e84 01/2013) in have also a VIN

The solution :

Retrieve the file generalPersistencyData_DiagnosticSWTController as described in this thread : https://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1154524
The fact is that this file generalPersistencyData_DiagnosticSWTController has plenty of "0x01 0x01 0x00 0x1d" fragments. Firsts ones don't have the right VIN but 1234567 VIN instead. So, you need to search for the first fragment which contains the right VIN corresponding to your car and extract it as described in the link. With this valid 1b file, you'll get the right fsc code

FYI : the script (copy_scr.sh) contained in 1b.zip file, attached to this thread , seems to pick up the first fragment which is obviously the wrong one.

One more thing ; i was able to update my map by using 3 usb keys...

I followed the steps, exactly, for the 1b file using three different types of certified USB sticks. NONE worked in this 2016 750i with EBT EVO ID4: no HEX file. Now I am wondering if there is an update to the 1b or other file. If I have to go through a OBDII E-SYS situation, I might as well pay the Dealer because the cost is about the same and there is no hassle.

BTW, there is no USB port in MY glove box. There are only USB ports in the three center consoles (I have a G12 long wheelbase)

Yep, make sure the unZipped "copie_scr.sh" file is on the USB stick.

Your 1b.hex looks OK. The VIN displayed is VV33542. As long as it matches your car's VIN then it should work.

Thanks for reply! I follow step by step, and use my 1b.hex for generate FSC Code! But the problem not is incorrect code..
But not start nothing, not happen nothing!

Maybe is map ( i have only one, because other link not function..)!

What is the current map version in your car? (PREMIUM for Professional nav, or MOTION for Business nav?)
Go into the Navigation menu, press the iDrive OPTION button, then scroll down and select "Navigation System Version".

I assume you downloaded the PREMIUM maps for Professional.

Also, make sure the root of the USB drive contains 2 items ('pkgdb' folder, and 'config.nfm' file).
