N55 6MT Transmission fluid
Hey guys.
I have a 2013 FBO N55 e92 6mt with 47k miles on it. Bought the car in pretty good condition with 18k miles a few years ago. I had the transmission replaced after a few months of ownership because it was grinding. The tranny could have been bad because of previous owner AND the fact that I put in redline tranmission fluid. Since the replacement, tranny has been holding up just fine for 2.5 years. My questions: Did dealer put in OEM fluid when they changed the tranny? Is it worth changing it again? I know BMW says "lifetime fluid," but are fluids really OEM? Having owned a few stick M cars and tracking them, I'm not new to driving stick at all. I'm in it for the long-haul with ownership of this car, so i'm pretty meticulous with the maintenance.

The dealer definitely put in OEM fluid when they changed the transmission. That's the only type of fluid they have in stock.
Redline didn't kill your transmission. Lots of people run it, and it causes no problems. |

I agree with Jammer on the fluid. As you are going long haul with your ride, change it, then at 100 k... It doesn't cost much to do it, and it will give you the peace of mind that you are really asking for. BTW, 6 MT is the way to go.
