Safe to get a used Cobb?

One of my friends is looking to buy a cobb for his n54. I've heard that buying a used jb4 isn't too smart and could lead to having problems. Is it the same way for cobb? Or since it's a flash, it wouldn't make a difference. If anyone has any info on this please lemme know! Thanks for the help in advance.

Best,
Jake

i know maybe 15 people who have JB4 and none of them including myself have bought them new.
i actually am on my 3rd one and i would never buy it new.
with any used part they could have been tampered with, but thats what you have eyes for.
Cobb is the same thing, your fairly safe, except for if they left it married to the previous car (which ussually doesnt happen bc then the owner would have issues with warranties etc).

in both instances....your pretty safe with used

Only issue with used piggy backs is frayed cables, besides rough handling that caused damage.

Cobb is not VIN locked, so there is no issue buying used, in fact you should buy it used.

and bent pins. But I agree, buying used - if you can - is a good way to go.

I thought it was if it was installed on the car? Meaning if I install it on my car and sell it to you it wouldn't work on your car

The person just has to unmarry it from their car so it can work on another.
