Your ideal/perfect track wheel set up?

I'm a wheel whore. Yes, we all know. I'm purchasing a few sets right now.
I have my show/meet set. I'm working on my weekend/daily set.

Next, I'm thinking of a designated track set up. I have had the TE37 in the past, but I'm looking for a set up that won't cost as much, since I won't be doing much tracking, since she's a garage queen. I'm thinking 18" and maybe APEX wheels.. What perfect specs do you guys thing would work with most of our platforms?

anything 18x9.5 with low 30 offset for 265/35-18 sticky street

or 17x9 with mid 30 offset for 255/40-17 r-comp

So you're thinking a square set up 18x9.5? I've thought of this, and I don't think the 265/35 would clear my fronts.

you can fit 9.5 with 265 up front and in back but not with room to run the camber you'd want on the track. You'd be better off with a 9" with 255 all around.

Doing KW V3 with custom alignment.

Wait you're saying adding more camber (which is preferable for track) would make it harder to run 265's?

I use Apex 17x9.5 et 35 and 255 square with 5mm spacer on fronts. You can also run 255f and 265/275r no issues. Very light wheels, clear 355mm Stoptechs and cheap tires. You can also use 17x9 et30 wheels. The best value set-up in my opinion and wheels look like new after 2 years of tracking.

I'll go with 18x9.5 with 275/45. Maybe on APEX - ARC-8 Wheels?

I'm running 17x9 et30 ARC-8's with the aforementioned 255 fitment and while I am happy with the grip, weight reduction etc, I have lost some response and feel from the tall sidewalls. Were I to do it again, I'd go staggered 18x9/18x10 because in reality if you are really pushing your street car on the track, you're eating through tires anyway and I'd rather have the most corner exit traction on a street car that's already running staggered (and hence probably not an alignment that is optimized for square).

Just my most recent thoughts on the matter.

We run 18x9.5 square on our race car with 275/35 BFG R1.
Your suspension will dictate how much of a spacer you'll need. In a past setup, we had AST's and only needed a 5mm spacer. Now we're running Ohlins and the same wheel and we need a 20mm spacer (up front, rears are no problem).
If we could do it over, we'd go wtih 18x9, just to give us a little more room and help the wheels fit easier. You'd still be able to fit a 275 width tire no problem.
They will definitely clear, it's just a matter of how the KW V3 works with the wheels.

First pic is with the 20mm spacer, second is with the 5mm spacer.

Ive been tossing around the idea of running 18x9.5 et35 with 265's square.

Im not sure how feasable that is for the front though.

Since you've already had TE's, I would suggest getting either 17" or 18" ARC-8's or 18" Enkei NT03's

I run 18x9 Apex Arc 8 on 275/35/18 Nitto NT01. slightly pinched but still in the allowable range for the tire width. I run +29.5 offsett in the front and about -2.8 camber and there is enough space in the front of stock e92.

it's not preferable in back on our car a ton of negative camber in the rear increases understeer all things being equal

i was told by apex that the 17x9 square and 17x9.5 square are the most popular sizes for our cars for dedicated track setup.
