Whirring noise behind centre console

sat in car today noticed a constant whirring noise eminating from behind the centre console. this noise was present even after taking the key out of the slot.

any ideas? it definitely isn't the fan or CD or DVD drive as i ejected both discs and noise was still present, seems to be coming from further back behind that front panel though (panel where air con / dvd slots are)

anyone else heard similar?

the only whirring noise i notice is that of the DVD/CD player.

I still think it carries on whirring even if the media is taken out.

i can check mine for you if you like...
