Anyone bought extended warranty?

I forgot to ask this a while ago, i have my '09 335i coupe on order.

i was wondering if buying an extended warranty was possible? is it worth it? how much does it normally costs ?

thanks.

It was like a little over $2k

I would get it for sure if you plan on owning the car after 4/50,000. Especially the 335i

Why would you purchase it now if it doesn't go into effect until after 4/50k? I believe you can purchase it any time before you cross that line?

Correct. It is less expensive if you purchase it when the car is new. I purchased AAA Autoguard when my car was a few weeks old.

When its time for me to purchase an extended warranty, I already know which company I am going with. And that is continental warranty. I had them with my M and they were on point everytime I had to take my car in to the shop for any repairs. Everything was handled professionally with no problems.

I saw a sign at Hendrick BMW in Charlotte that they will only honor the "original" BMW extended warranty through BMW?? or the Hendrick Extended warranty. No others will be excepted at that dealership.

Btw, that dealership has great service.

The same by me. The dealers will only accept the BMW extended warranty.

Approximately how much do they jack up the price if you don't buy it up front? Mercedes lets you wait until a day before the original warranty is up before buying an extension and the price doesn't change.

I'd do the extended warranty. Keep in mind there's a $50 deductable each time you bring it in under the extended plan.

As for the extended maintenance, don't waste your money.

Thats not the warranty that people are referring to here.

+1 Great points.

Due to mine previous vehicle was overheated at 44k miles. I have been thinking of the extended warranty. Stealer quotes me ~$2200 now with a requirements of having a pre-inspection reports from service department. It probably cost another couple of hundred bucks.

Just make sure you don't get "EasyCare" package. Apparently BMW of Bellevue here offers it, and I bought it for around $1,800. At first the lady told me that all I need to do is pay $100 deductible, but when I took my car in for the first repair work I was charged a lot more since EasyCare only covers the labor costs according to their own labor hour book, instead of using the same book all BMW dealerships refer to. I was like wtf.

Has anyone one heard this before? That if you wait on buying the extended warranty (or maintenance?) the dealership won't provide one until a pre-inspection report's been provided????

If true, that's not cool. I mean, the car's been under the BMW warranty and maintenance for 50 miles or 4 years, so why would they need a pre-inspection report? Or is that just a report saying that the owner has had all the scheduled maintenance? Just seems like a possible way for BMWNA to try and refuse to issue a warranty.

When I extended the warranty on my ML500 Benz a few years ago (sold now), it too needed to be inspected before approval for an extended warranty, I think it's just the norm. Took less than an hour though, especially since I've only had it serviced and repaired by them.

That's pretty weak... What was the actual labor cost and how much did EasyCare cover? Did they cover the cost of all the parts?
