Replace injectors or Port injection

Hey lads. So I have to replace my injectors and the cost is just ridiculous it’s over one third the cost of the purchase price of the car so I’m wondering would switching to port injection be the best option or is there somewhere I can get injectors with re-mortgaging my house? I can afford to get new injectors it’s just way too much money for a non M car.

Do you need all 6? As far as I know the N55's only had one or two versions, so to my knowledge there are no compatibility issues like the N54's have, where if you replace one you have to replace the whole bank.

There technically are DI deletes but to run PI only will cost more than just getting 6 new injectors as the PI kits most people are running are just to supplement the stock injectors, not to replace them entirely.

Are you sure about the costs or perhaps you are in the wrong section. Bosch N55 injectors are less than 80 bucks:

Hey thanks for the responses. So I have a 2008 335j n54 and the injectors are 3300 there abouts the n55 is heaps and thanks for the link too by the way but the n54 seems much much more expensive. Is there aftermarket alternatives for the n54 or are the genuine ones the only available?

I’ve posted on the wrong forum. Sorry. I thought this was e90 n54 not n55.

Ah, yes N54 injectors are crazy expensive. I would get some used index 12's on the forums. There are several members who specialize in selling them from parted out cars.

Don't buy any on eBay, there are a ton of Chinese sellers who sell "reman index 12" and they're just older injectors with the index numbers scraped off. I think there was a set for like $700 the other day of index 12's on here. Even with shipping to Australia, wouldn't be too bad.

EDIT: here they are

This has actually proven to be false. Just need to code them. And OP I started a thread about this exact thing in the n54 section. PI is quite costly and I wouldn't say completely sorted yet. Guys who run PI now are on full custom builds making big power. This index 12 deal going on is a real bummer.

Yes people do it and they run fine, but if you're going to a BMW shop or a dealer they won't do it because it's technically not right was my point.

Yeah I nearly fell out of my seat when I seen the price. I can buy 6 injectors for an s55 for 1000 but this is unbelievable and could almost total an otherwise fine car. Man I feel for people on a tight budget who need these replaced. From what I can tell port injection is cheaper than the original injectors and I can do it myself but I can’t see anyone wanting to buy a used bmw with a mod like that. Thanks for all the responses. Great info guys thanks.

It's not cheaper. If anything its more expensive by a fair amount. You cant just add port injection. You would also need a DI delete kit, stand alone ecu, stand alone harness adapter, probably bigger than stock LPFP and then tuning. And then even after all that the car wont have all the features it did from the factory. Stand alones haven't gotten that far yet on this platform.
