Handbrake delete/alternative

I'm planning to update the center console to a 7 series for a modern look. I know it's going to take a lot of modding but I'm willing.

My biggest issue is that the handbrake takes too much room. Any ideas? Can it be relocated or even modded into a button mechanism?

Several options for push button electric out there. I’ve seen them retrofitted to several vehicles but not on a bmw. Maybe some who has will pipe in

Point of reference, if you loose battery/power, you loose the emergency part of the e-brake
