E93 335i Actual Weight

Hey guys,
I've never found a definitive number for how heavy the e93 335i is, so I went to a local truck stop and finally got it weighed. For reference, the user manual lists the weight (6MT) as 1795kg/3957lb, which I wish was true.

It weighed in at 4080lb with about 80% fuel and occupant weights subtracted. Not much is in the car, maybe 10-20lb at most. I've seen 3825, 3957, 3990, 4001, and 4090 listed around, and it seems like 4090 is about right with a full tank. Without fuel it seems like 3957 is about right, too.

Newsflash, heavy e93 is heavy. I know. Just posting this up here so the e93 guys have an actual idea of how much baggage they are hauling.

Good info. I just picked up an e93 and the weight increase is very noticeable compared to my e92. Both are 6MT.

Now let's get an e92 on the scales. I'm sure the info is out there somewhere.

Did a quick search and found 3990 listed for the e93 335i which is super close to the OP's estimated gasless figure

Same website listed the e92 at 3527. (probably wont quell the curiousity of weighing the car yourself but hopefully helps a little)

Compared to something like a Challenger or Charger (4,500+ lbs) a 335i is still pretty light.

Sheesh... that makes the e93 500-600lbs heavier. And here I thought it was only 400lb

E93 is a porker compared to the rest of the series. Look under the vehicle and there is a bunch of bracing that is not there on E92, 91, 90. One of them crosses the read diff, which makes it a real joy to change the diff fluid. With the top up, the car drives fine, just a bit more ponderous than the E92, etc (still handles great, though). However, with top down, that weight shifts to the rear, which changes handling dynamics. Once you learn how to drive it, you can work around much of that weight issue. I had a Boxster, and it was definitely a change going from that to the E93...

The roof mechanism is a huge factor. It's a hard top cabriolet so all the moving parts are beefed up in there compared to a rag top vert

I have a rock quarry close to me that has a scale....as soon as they weather warms up a little and the ice/snow melts off....I will take my 07' E92 with the 6AT up there and see what it weights. I've been wanting to do that for some time now.

It always amazes me working on my brother's E90 328 how simple everything is, a big part of every job on the E93 is removing every single brace known to man while trying not to rip what's left of the felt undertrays and missing rivets... I didn't change diff fluid until I was essentially forced to by my axle popping out. What a horrible job that I would gladly never do again.
