I had this same problem... random misfires, rattles during start up coming from exhaust piping, limp mode, 02sensor codes etc. At first I thought it was my driveshaft center bearing. When i took my 2ndary pipes then I saw the problem This the cat interior honey comb rattling in you header. You better get that fixed ASAP it can cause increase internal engine pressure and will cause oil pan gasket leaks etc. picture below can show you looking inside the header.

Thanks for your response!

So you perform the change of nox itself (not the sensor) on ISTA and do:

a) Car must be at operating temperature/warm;
b) drive vehicle 50 – 60 mph (80 – 100 km/h) with 2000 – 2500 RPM for at least 15 min (use manual shift, if needed);
c) let vehicle idle for about 5 min;
d) perform at least 2 – 3 drive/idle cycles if possible;
e) recheck mixture adaptation values.

as stated in Bimmerprofs post?

Just perform the change of nox itself in Ista and you are good to go

I have seen this. I don't think this will resolve the 30E9 error.

My NOx sensor is working fine. See attached screenshot.
Only way to erase this error with Rheingold is to execute the function for Nox catalytic replacement telling the car that you got a brand new catalytic ,there is no other way.

I've just had this performed and so far the cars driving perfectly with no codes present. Im wondering how it came up with this code. Looking at the service records the owner had plugs replaced then a new rocker cover within a week. Perhaps the garage told him the cat was knackered

Here is mine. When driving, it does report NOX content in ppm in top left bar.
However, notice third row on the left - that is offset. Scale 1 to 5, mine !14.
According to internet, that is irreversibly clogged up sensor.
I also have 30E9 code and that sensor was likely the reason for the code.
I ordered NoXEM, will have it in a week.
Also, as I was clearing error memory with ISTA, 30E9 code disappeared. I didn't drive since then, so it might come back, but currently it's gone. Just saying it can be cleared, just not sure how long until it will be back (it will).

Hey lads, came across this post which is very informative, my bank 1 primary cat is on its way out (rattles, inefficient cat CEL and poor fuel economy).. If I deleted the primary cats and fitted 200 cell secondaries, would this avoid NOX error or what ecu/dme tunes would be necessary?
