i asked for ferrera valvetrain and they said i could rev to 8200 rpm with it on a n54 but not sure on a n55 what the dme limit is... they said no point in doing valves if not doing ported head... valvetrain upgrade nets only 4% more flow vs 30% for ported head.. they recommend i only do this if going huge turbo and bigger power goals.... |

Not to add fuel to the fire but, they've never posted N55 flow numbers.
They don't have N55 valve train. We're the only company that's developed it. I won't keep beating a dead horse (like them using Chrysler head studs, then switching to a stud with a spacer for drop in installs- the same thing they tried to say was "silly" with our set lol) I digress- have a great weekend, folks! |

I cannot make a recommendation. I know who I would steer clear of. If I needed an engine built, it would be done locally by a friend and 20-year ASE-certified mechanic who is an avid racer, race car builder and has worked on practically everything with an engine that doesn't fly.

They must have been drunk at the factory when they built his engine lol. That's a lot of issues at low mileage.

And here i am with a possible rod bearing failure after a year of opening this thread..... My car is still at RRT Racing since a warranty claim is gonna have to be opened but surprise surprise! Small metallic powder/peaces in my oil filter....
Current Status of my car 90,000 miles Charge Pipe Intake JB4 Tune Original BMW oil has been used every 5k miles Will report back after the MaxCare claim goes through and the engine is opened up for internal check up. |

This is pretty scary now. I'm due for an oil change at 95k and my other two oil samples with ~5k on them each came back with normal results. And I'm far more tuned than Jey with California's watered down 91...

Yeah I am thinking it may be something else that failed. I compared your reports to mine and other than yours have much lower viscosity than my M1 0W-40, the wear metal numbers look pretty close to mine and I have 98,000 miles on mine.

So do you get any rod knock noise ? You said someone will be tearing up the engine to have a look at this ? That would be nice finally

Not sure whether or not they'd be tearing it apart completely since it'll be a warranty claim but it actually just sounded like belt tensioner / pulleys when i took it in (plus some suspension issues which was my main concern for the warranty claim) and it turned out to be coming from inside the engine.... so im patiently waiting to hear back from them now
