Just about ready to get my first e92 diesel!

Well after lurking about this forum for a while now, I'm finally about ready to take the plunge. Well, when I sell my Vx first that is, but not too concerned about that.

I'm after a 335d, or possibly a 330d if the spec is right. I'm looking for the right car - it needs iDrive, that's a given. It really needs to have a cream interior as well, not fussed about external colour and I'm not fussed about an m sport either. Probably the most important req is the mileage, I'm looking for a sub 50k example. Oh and the usual things like BT. I found the perfect one on autotrader last week, but it had already sold

Hopefully I won't be waiting too long...I've been waiting 3 years for this moment!!

*Edit - Meant to ask, what things should I be looking for when I view 'potentials'?

TA

Colour & M Sport were deal breakers for me. I usually look for stone chips, same brand of tyres all round (good sign), stretch in leather etc? Suppose everyone has their own inspection but make sure you tick the important ones off. In your case, make sure the car drives to match the mileage on clock

Yeah good point. You'd think that you'd be safe from clocked cars in this day and age! I looked at a 535d not too long ago and it had very low miles on it, complete bag of nails condition. Very suspect.

Obviously you need to ensure service history is up to scratch as well as looking down inside the engine bay on the front offside and checking for oil leaks on the red boost hose.

Relatively easy fix, but you may get a few hundred knocked off the price if it comes to additional bartering.

Good luck and enjoy the test drive

Cheers Squintstream.

Can't find anything atm, only decent one I can see is an 06 330d with 41k. Still nice, but I'd rather a 335d else I'd always regret it I reckon.

A little bit mate to be honest, depends on the spec/price though. PM me the details if you like.

I'm only planning on keeping one for 12-18 months and i want to minimise what I'll lose in that time. Anything over 60k costs a lot more to get warranty cover and I don't plan on doing more than 8/9k in my ownership, hence why I'm looking for one under 50k. When I come to sell on, it will still be under 60k, keeping resale value up. That's the plan anyway.

It's all relative though, if I can get the spec I'm after at the right price so as to offset the higher warranty costs and lower resale value then...

We're going down to one car next year, so this is my only real opportunity to own a coupé before I'm forced to go back to an estate lol.

are you not bothered whether it is manual or auto?

As you can't get manual 335D's in the UK.

I see where you're coming from - I'm after an auto, so even if I were to go for a 330d it would need to be auto, with the paddle shifts.

Tom: cheers, PM replied to.

Why not just get a 335d Touring now..?

I think they look better than the coupes.. and you can keep it then.

+1

The Touring's look amazing! Especially with the M Sport and the twin exit exhaust of the 335

What VX are you coming from?
I went from a VX220 to a 330D and love it, completely different cars but that's what I wanted

Because we already have a family car on lease until next year, so I want to use the opportunity to get a coupé for a year

Well I'm afraid it's nothing as interesting as a VX220! Just a humble Vectra CDTi with hybrid turbo and remap. Really looking forward to the useable power of the e92

One thing to note is that on the 335d, even if you get an SE it comes with Msport suspension and seats. So, all 335s will handle well - a 330d se will be more on the comfortable side.

Oh, I thought all the e92s came with sport suspension. So it's just the 335s then?

Yeah, have considered it and I'm not completely ruled one out, but I'm a diesel convert and just love the torque! Baring in mind I'm talking about standard.

Quick update:

Went to see a car today and I did a deal, so in a couple of weeks I'll be the proud owner of an 08 e92 335d!

I'll give more details later, but need to go out for now.

All Msport E92 come with sport suspension.

In SE spec only 335 E92 comes with sport suspension.
